kevin1927
Yeah...it took me a few years to realize that too but now I realize that there it is just not that snowy a place. I moved here from Northern NJ in a town where we average almost 40 inches a year...when I was moving up here to Boston everyone kept saying "wow...gett ready fro the snow and cold" but in reality although I moved over 200 miles...most of the distance was east and still close to the ocean so...now I average 45....just not that much more snowy than NJ. When did you move here? We've had some doozies over the past 10 years. Sure the interior averages a lot more snow, but we have our years and storms on the coastal plain as well. Storms like the blizzard of Jan 05 are epic living on the coast.

Boston's average temperature for the month was 20.7 degrees Fahrenheit and for Bridgeport it was 21.7 degrees, says Keith Eggleston, a senior climatologist at the center. The normal average January temperature for Boston is 29.3 degrees and for Bridgeport it is 29.9 degrees. For BOS, it was coldest January on record....at Logan airport. They had a colder January back in 1888 at the colder inland site before Logan existed.
DavisStraight
Hasn't it always been a 2-3 day deal? I haven't been following these warm up threads, but I thought its always been like Thur-Sat or something like that? I think it started off two weeks of 50's with a couple days "tickling" 60, with snow eating rains mixed in I kid, I think it was about 9-10 days 40+ and a couple around 50 depending on where you are. Logan11
It got to almost 32 here and flat lined into the early afternoon, then slipped back slowly into the upper 20's and downward. 16.7 degrees right now. Agreed, I lived in Cambridge from 1995 - 2006 and we had some amazing snow storms. I think it was a January 2006 storm that Cambridge/Somerville area got caught in a death band that dropped 30"+ Went to bed with sn+ and howling wind and got up at sunrise and it was the first time I ever saw a snow storm that made me a little nervous. lol
