moneypitmike
Winds howling for the last hour. Up to 38 on the Davis......worried I might get a tree down or power out--seriously. Temp spiked to 42.7 at 9:15 dp spike to 31 at 8:00, down to 40.8/24 now.

HIPPYVALLEY
Wow... Suddenly got very windy. House shaking, freight-train windy. Was not expecting this... Yeah, opened the woodstove and a strong gust back drafted a good face full of smoke into my living room.
moneypitmike
Wow... Suddenly got very windy. House shaking, freight-train windy. Was not expecting this... Yup--it was the scary kind of wind. Not as rough as it was when it first started, but still very high gusts. I wasn't expecting it at all. I went out at 9;15 to get wood and it had just started up. I thought that going to be the extent of it--but boy it just kept ramping up. Surprsied I still have power. 40.6/

Temp fluctuations are weird. 26F when I got home at 9pm, 29F at 10pm and now down a degree to 28F.

I saw that G'field/Bernardston/Northfield all managed to do the same. Didn't realize you were still hanging onto the sub-freezings. Congrats! The graphic I posted shows when the temps jumped here. weatherMA
Still about 8" snow depth here. Yeah still about 6" here. A lot of grass starting to show in exposed areas though.
ORH_wxman
Yeah still about 6" here. A lot of grass starting to show in exposed areas though. We're all gonna lose it this weekend anyway...I think the north slopes and woods will keep some of it, but the exposure to high dews is just going to be too much I think. If it was a 12 shot of >36F dewpoints, then we'd survive. But its at least double that I think. This slow drip we've had the last day or two doesn't help either...even if its not very effective. Slow drip for 5 days will start to add up eventually making the snow even more vulnerable to the late weekend assault.

It looks gross now even in less populated areas. It's close to Ji's "black snow the day after falling" that they apparently get in the deep south down in MD. Hopefully we can start a new snowpack next week.
ORH_wxman
GFS looks pretty wintry for next week....the long range shows you how we might stay very cold if the PNA stays positive.
OSUmetstud
gfs shows a minor to moderate snow event for CNE/WNE at about 156 hours and then a weak Miller B at day 10-11.
NaoPos
GFS looks pretty wintry for next week....the long range shows you how we might stay very cold if the PNA stays positive. Yep. Think it has to do with how it sets up the -EPO. WHich, probably corresponds to it assuming the MJO goes to phase 7-8??
CT Rain
GFS looks pretty wintry for next week....the long range shows you how we might stay very cold if the PNA stays positive. Yeah... GFS is impressive. Souped up (compared to before) storm for Tuesday night/Wednesday... followed by a brush with the meat locker that does a number on CYUL/KBTV/KAUG etc and then it lifts a bit and gives us a pseudo miller a/b for D11 lol. ORH_wxman
GGEM has the front through here by Monday morning....out to 114h and seeing what it will do with the wave along the front. It looks like a lot of gulf moisture in it for wherever it decides to go.
ORH_wxman
Looks like classic snow to ice for a lot of SNE on the Canadian at 144h though its close to staying all snow N of the pike in SNE...cant see soundings though and don't really care at this frame. Not gonna stay up for the Euro...not this far before a threat. Should be interesting to track the next couple days anyway.

I feel good about next week. I see a wintry appeal Tue/Wed. Glad I put in "wintry mix" in the 7 day on Tuesday even though the op GFS and op Euro had like 40s/50s verbatim with rain on Tuesday. We've been flirting with crashing polar signals here, and given to weighty snow pack N ...any excuse at our latitude for a polar boundary slipping south is usually a good bet. free_man
6-10" depth here, avg around 8". Doubt it survives the torch, however there may be the typical weenie piles leftover, before winter returns.
