Ginx snewx
EURO 11-15 ENS not as cold as GEFS but have a great NAO with a snowy look with a motherlode of cold coming into the upper Midwest. Fantastic look.
dendrite
How can you tell? Presuming the fact that they're exposed to traffic, salt, and snow lying on them at times? They're pretty firmly into the ground for being upsidedown.
Damage In Tolland
Lot of snow to melt this week. Solid 8-10+ OTG still..High of 36.7 today
moneypitmike
Those shrubs/evergreens must have really strong roots. LOL. Unreal sunset Complete overcast here--sunset view ftl. The upside for me to the likely meltdown, I never got all my wood stacked. So I guess I'll get a second chance. 33.5/26, high of 35.8. Good for snowballs. powderfreak
Plenty more winter to come. Amen dude. God I love deep snow. The valley's got snow, too, but there's nothing like wandering around in 4-6 feet of snow. 18 of the last 22 days with 1" or greater on this snow board (81" since December 15th for an average of just under 4"/day) at 3,000ft. And that's still over 1,000ft below the summit ridge. 51" since December 15th at 1,500ft.

ORH_wxman
A few pics from the neighborhood today....+7 day today, still mid-winter scenery as low dewpoints and light wind make upper 30s pretty powerless this time of the year. You can still see the light snowfall we had this morning in some of the pics whitening the snow banks and sidewalks.

Logan11
I'm starting to wonder if this coming cold outbreak in the CONUS is going to be a net positive or a net negative for us in the Northeast. It's going to be a big net positive in the central and western states certainly. Plenty more winter to come.
Damage In Tolland
Weenies, we don't want ball shrinking cold like GEFS 11-15 day show. We want cold like just had the last 2 weeks fir storm threats. Euro ens are what we want if want plenty if snow
Clinch Leatherwood
wx2fish we'll see if it holds in later runs Rick, it's a good thing when it comes but I'm not sure if it's anything more than what we've had adjusted colder for climo. It "looks" cold on the models, but I'm not sure I'm convinced in 5 days the 10 day prog will be as cold as today's 15 day. Willing to bet it isn't for that matter. All the ups/downs seem to be overdone in this pattern by the models. If I had to bet it's the pattern we've had for much of the last 3 weeks just a few/5 degrees colder. powderfreak
Yeah I'm all set with Jan 2004. Only way I want vodka cold is if its in an overrunning pattern like 1994. I don't need days of 10/-4 with no precip. Amen. Also, sweet pics. Looks like mid-winter down there, too. Just as January should look. I know we all want the 2-3 foot snowpack and such, but there's nothing wrong with 7-15" on the ground this time of year. That's probably about average anyway...and after last season, average snow depth days would be more than welcomed.
Ginx snewx
Yeah why would anyone want to be sitting under a 1054 Arctic high. Euro 11-15 would be perfect as we hug Kevs -8 iso

Yeah we are about 2 weeks now with snow pack...it has looked like winter for a while now after the poor start to December. It was nice just driving around Winter hill today and taking in the winter scene. It easily gets lost how nice that can be when we are so worried about a 55F day next weekend. DavisStraight
Taking pics of the same back deck gets old after a while, so I go around the neighborhood. I was in Worcester and Holden last week for appts, you guys have twice the snow I have here in southern worc county, it must have been that storm that changed to rain, we changed much sooner and had smaller snow banks. Then the last storm was fluff.
dendrite
Yeah why would anyone want to be sitting under a 1054 Arctic high. Euro 11-15 would be perfect as we hug Kevs -8 iso I love a little vodka cold once per winter, but I want it with at least a semi decent snow pack. I'll pass on the -25C 850s with bare ground showing. Let's get a snowy 2 weeks and then drop a -30C H85 through here for 2 days and then repeat the snow.
Ginx snewx
I think Saki is underestimating the severity of that Arctic air mass JMHO. Somebody is bound to post I always go colder but all indications are it will be the real deal this time. Deep snow cover in the source regions and very high pressure.
