CoastalWx
If you guys are comparing H5, notice the wavelengths have gotten shorter and more amplified between the ridging running north to south near Bermuda and the trough coming into the Apps. The acts to enhance divergence and so on and so forth.

dendrite
That NW energy is moving into the base of the trof way faster. Already into central TN at 48hr. Faster than the 12z GFS at 60hr.
40/70 Benchmark
Will thinks this will be a moderate soloution.

Cold Miser
Is this thing going to last beyond Monday??? That would be sweet... An intense, short event is great, too, but I love just undending snow... Feb '69ish We had that a few December's ago. The storm started on Friday Night, and ended on Sunday morning. It was awesome. The Pats has a game that Sunday and there must have been 2 feet in the stands. They played Miami. Must have been 2005 or 2006?

Baroclinic Zone
Part of the energy coming ashore at hour 30 is going to meet up with the new mexico energy? crazy how it can catch up with it. Where is the pv currently? thanks for the info. The NW energy is just coming onshore. The PV is basically sitting ove Montreal right now. And you can see the disturbance in the SW. Here is the GFS initialization for tonight. The pieces of energy move at different speads and phase at different times.
TalcottWx
of course the GFS and NAM are coming back, their consistency is foolish compared to foreigners

weatherwiz
Definitely a bit more amplified at 48 HR than the 12z run through the same time.

weatherwiz
Yes. Looks like the stronger divergence might even be a tad west as well...if we see the best area of divergence setup further west would it be fair to say we would probably see low pressure development also occur a bit further west? CoastalWx
This shows the vortmax over NC. The NAM had it a little further north. This may not be an epic run, but could be close.

CoastalWx
Better than 18z def... but not as good as 12z. That vortmax racing in from the Plains again may give it a boost towards hr 78 or so.
