JCT777
i thought it was supposed to be windy today?????? I'm seeing winds out of the NW at 63 MPH under your location. But maybe that's not very windy for West Rockhill Township.
am19psu
Where is the global superjet to help?!?! I like how that thread turned into the Hater's Ball in about 2.4 seconds. I was clearly Silky Johnson. I believe HM was Buck Nasty.

HM
I like how that thread turned into the Hater's Ball in about 2.4 seconds. I was clearly Silky Johnson. I believe HM was Buck Nasty. LOL I had Silky material with "welcome to 10 years ago" in the main forum but my timing was too late to be Silky even with that... I can't wait to freeze again in early Feb. What kind of 1980s hell are we reliving here man?
NaoPos
1st time in a Long time I haven't seen a gfs 300Hr+ fantasy storm depicted run after run in the winter.
am19psu
1st time in a Long time I haven't seen a gfs 300Hr+ fantasy storm depicted run after run in the winter. That's mainly because the GFS has gotten a lot better in the out periods. If we had this same set up in 2008, it'd be fantasy storm after fantasy storm. Ralph Wiggum
This is the system I keep looking at in early Feb....pattern seems right. Question is, is this model right? That energy coming into the Plains has excellent potential, though one cannot shovel potential,we can at least look ahead and hope for a larger storm:

mookiemike
At 15/18z the GFS+SREF increased a little while the NAM decreased. Mt Holly's call looks good. Having seen Mt Holly & Upton, I think both are superior offices with good, earnest Mets. The superiority complex of some of the private sector Mets astounds me. One in particular, who shall remain nameless, likes to taunt NOAA, the point & click forecasts, and his brilliance for "analog" years. I count the number of times he has busted the last two years, but it's his bringing a POLITICAL agenda to the site, reflected in half-crazed posters that sound like a a group of old ladies ( no offense meant to elderly women ) at some gossipy coffee klatch, whose science reflects the Dark Ages ( the Earth is 6,000 years old, global warming, what's that? ), that is even worse. Nice to be back with this group, as I was a regular in NYC Metro before moving back to the town that I call home. Now, can we just hold off with the snow in Philly till about 6 PM, as I have a late meeting at Lankenau Hospital tomorrow afternoon, and City Line Ave will crawl, while I don't trust 20 degree roadways with drivers who just don't get it when it comes to frozen precipitation. Anyway, had an event I was charting around 2/4 a week ago in the real long range. Got so vested in this storm, I have stopped looking ahead. Maybe later..... "be seeing you"..... CoolHandMike
Quick question, and I can't find a better place to ask it: What does TTN stand for? I get most of the other acronyms, but I can't figure this one out from context, and I'm starting to see it a lot in the storm threads. Thanks~

They started with CW (for Citizen Weather), but all those were taken, then went to DW (because it was the letter after C), now they're on EW. Voyager
I'm ready for a torch. Almost destroyed my tanker trailer due to this cold weather. The vent pipe froze up beyond where we could see it and in an unusual place. I make it a point to make sure that air is flowing through the vent whenever I load or unload, and it wasn't. Had I not caught it, I would have sucked the tank in like a crushed soda can. It would have looked like this...

ChescoWx
This cold spell has really turned the way above average January around. Currently through today my station here in NW Chesco is running just +2.6 for the month. However, we have for the first time since November dipped below normal snowfall for the season to date. Normal snowfall for Chester County PA through tomorrow the 25th is exactly 13.0" we are currently at 11.7"....so even a couple inches tomorrow could put us back above normal snowfall for the season to date. NaoPos
EURO has a nice coastal storm around 2/1.... Gfs and euro worlds apart at this time. Just some more eye candy. The 6z gfs took 2 steps backwards from the 0z, which, as I posted in the M-LR thread, was trending east the previous 3 runs.
