Around 60 homes completely washed away or destroyed in that town alone. Sickening.

There is a big difference between a good Nor'easter and a tropical system, the exception was the March 62 storm. I have had a few heated discussions with Hurricane Josh about this. Anybody that wants a tropical system to strike the US is crazy.

Got some light sleet mixed with snow here in Media off and on some light accum on cars nothing too special... however temps are 33.4 it was 35 dew point sitting at 27.... dewpoints running 28-26 or so lower 5 county area ... see DC and Balt with a 32 spot... conditions support sleet and some snow... see how long this holds on...the real precip down south is building and streaming this way will be interesting to see what happens as it gets here overnight.

No way we will be cutting by the end of march this year

Not this year although given how sh**ty this pattern is I wouldn't mind skipping March for Morch.  Nothing I hate more than 30's/40's and drizzle and light rain.

I am so frustrated with this pattern I want to throw my cpu out the window.  :gun:

There's always next year. I think to say by then, Philly metro and the mid Atlantic shall be due. Although I cannot complain. I've had some nice snows this year.

It's March in a few days. I could care less at this point about snow.

Dont take this personal, but I never understood this statement. Every year people say this... How can you call yourself a snow lover if you aren't rooting for snow in March. EVERY spring people say stuff like this. It's going to get warm eventually. Thats a guarantee. Snow isn't a guarantee ..so while there's hope nothing wrong with hoping for snow, unless you just aren't a snow lover than I understand...

I think it stems from some kind of frustration with lack of snow, thus turning into denial, can't explain it.

In fact spring snowstorms are my absolute favorite. They don't stick around (I love snow when its falling, but could care less about snow cover) and there's a better chance for closed ULLs which are always fun. Every year I'm always praying for an April 1 97 repeat.

March 7th has a shot...we have a NAO and a PNA...warm temps will get here, but I'm still rooting for snow.

Two reasons why I don't like snow in March.

1) It doesn't last long on the ground as long as a December/January snow will...January 2011 was awesome -- snow on the ground most of the month.  Wishing for a snowstorm that lasts a day or two (more often than not) before melting away is pointless. If it's going to snow, I want *some* return on investment beyond model humping and watching it snow, only to melt within a couple of days.

2) I want to get out and enjoy nice weather (60's) on occasion.  March is the first *good* month where you get some nice weather, even if it's fleeting and a one or two day event.  Winter is the cold season and the last six weeks have generally been pretty cold more often than not...I like that days are longer, sunshine brighter & stronger.  It'd be nice to go out for a run and not freeze your a-- off.

Sometimes I get the feeling Tom isn't a snow lover.

I'm more the type that would rather get blitzed with snow around Christmas/holidays, have a cold January with a couple of modest events so the snow sticks on the ground for the whole of the month, and then gradually have it melt in February so March 1st can be *somewhat* Spring-like.

The storms that accompany March snow can be pretty epic but the return on investment after the storm is really short-duration.

FWIW, two winters ago was about as perfect as I could hope for...six weeks of nonstop cold, snow, spring pretty much hit late February with only a few cold days along the way thereafter.  Yeah, it snowed a couple of times (including April Fools Day) but winter was effectively over 2/25 that year.
