jrips27
Finshed with 35.53" here in Kennesaw. Definitely a dry year, but December really kept it from being a total disaster as we finished with just under 6" for the month. How did you fare? NavarreDon
34.26" in Weaverville aka "dry ridge". We picked up right at 10" less than AVL about 15 miles away.

calculus1
I finished the first full calendar year at my new house with 45.31 inches through the rain gauge. It seems like a decent total, but I don't have any other years to compare it to, yet. So, I'm not sure. Check that. According to the NWS, over the last 30 years, the KHKY station averages 45.91 inches of precipitation per year. I guess that makes my total almost perfectly average! I did record more rainfall than the official reporting station here. They reported 42.87 inches. I'm slightly NW of that location by around 5 miles, "as the crow flies." calculus1
I know this thread is strictly labeled 2012 rainfall, but it seems a good location to report any kind of stats from 2012. Would you consider amending the title to something along the lines of 2012 - Year in Review (including rainfall, temps, any other stats you want to post)? Or, if you want me to move this data to a new thread, just let me know. Since I've already commented on rainfall for the year in the above post, allow me to make a few comments on temperature: the mean temperature IMBY for calendar year 2012 was 59.4 F. This compares to the 30-year average at KHKY of 59.0 F. So, it's not really that much above average if you compare MBY with the official station ~5 miles away. (For comparison, the official KHKY mean temperature for 2012 was 60.8 F. While higher than MBY, that's also not extremely greater than normal.) Snowfall was incredibly disappointing for calendar year 2012. The only measurable snowfall IMBY occurred on February 19 and amounted to somewhere between 1/2 and 1 inch total. It was hard to tell with the melting, as the temperature never fell below 32 during that "snowstorm." I observed flurries on several other days during 2012, but overall it was an incredibly disappointing year for a winter-weather lover. 2012 Final Stats from my PWS: Hi Temp: 102.5 F (on 06/30) Lo Temp: 14.3 F (on 01/04) Mean Temp: 59.4 F Hi Wind Gust: 22.0 mph (on 02/11, but my anemometer is slightly sheltered) Total Rainfall: 45.31 in (measured rainfall > 0.01 in on 118 different days and rainfall > 1 in on 8 different days) Wettest Day: 3.48 in (on 05/14) Wettest Month: 7.78 in during May Driest Month: 0.59 in during November Total Snowfall: 0.5 in (all on 02/19, though I did record flurries on other days)

MotoWeatherman
48.58 on my side of Dahlonega. Just a measley 15 inches below normal. December was the wettest month at 7.73". Summer time storms benefitted some parts of the county much more than others. Snow was a trace dusting on Dec 30th.
