Whoa - I haven't had to ice my thumbs since the epic Nintendo "King of the Beach" marathon of 1991.

Nice. For me, it was Super Nintendo Super Mario Kart and Sega, Hockey 93 and Mortal Kombat II.

Unfortunately, I think there was a direct correlation to staying up each night during college into well into the AM playing those games and sore thumbs and a GPA that was lower than it otherwise should have been.

I'm not super good at that many things, but I was utterly unbeatable in those three games, with the exception of the occasional unlucky lightening bolt or red turtle hit on Rainbow Road in Super Mario Kart.

It will have been nearly a week...the skies have probably healed enough to produce enough qpf (< 0.75 inch). I would not expect much more, and that is easily enough to produce a significant winter weather event.

I don't think so. The weather needs to rest for a bit more, yet.

Besides, the Sun is too angry to allow such high QPF totals to occur.

So I tried it again with someone else and scored a 2.  But I'm leaving it there because I'm about to blow your mind:

Kevin Bacon was in 'Hero at Large' with Andrew Masset -> who was in 'Remember The Titans' with Paula Claire Jones -> who worked as an Account Executive with Me at Blackbaud -> which is often confused with Blackboard (you)......how ya like me now?

I guess that makes my Bacon number 4!

(Wait.  So as not to confuse the other mathematicians in the room:  I was indicating an expression of surprise or astonishment with my exclamation point.  I was not implying that my Bacon number was 4 factorial.  It's definitely smaller than that.  In fact, the largest known Bacon number is currently 8, so I would indeed cause head explosions if mine were 4! = 24.)

Sorry for the delayed response.  I do have to teach a class every now and then, you know.

My degree of separation is a 3....I worked with Stephen Dorff on National TV ad who worked with Dakota Fanning who worked with Kevin Bacon....that's three right?

and I thought the last system was grasping for straws... Sheesh!

LOL...FFC putting up a winter storm warning for North GA last week was grasping for straws when pretty much model sounding said all rain.

At least this time around the model soundings across north GA actually support a P-Type that is interesting.

57 minutes ago · Snow potential for most of VA and now into NC increased! Northern VA and MD - European has really brought down snow totals there. Central VA looks good on this run. So I am convinced of a snowy/wintry Friday for a lot of VA and NC, not sure of amounts and again, light to moderate snow system seems possible.

Yeah, but where you are it's your summer, right? And here the rains are a bit less than before, but I still got over 2 1/2 from this last episode, even though north Atl. got over 5....so I still don't feel droughty. What I would like to feel is frozen ground. Haven't seen the ice squeezing up in stalagmites in years. T

Nah it's a slightly below average here today in the upper 50s. We barely saw any rain from the last system. Im feeling droughty already.

I guess after last year any icy precipitation is good. This Jan 25th event looks kinda lame. More like a flizzard. I don't see anything higher than an inch of snow in the lower elevations. Maybe a period of freezing rain and sleet.

It's a little odd for me to be in the opposite boat on this one, but I just don't see anything of significance at all.  Not east of the mountains.

It's like we just took a potential blockbuster for the NE to crap. I feel sorry for the guys up North. Boston super busted today and may not get the Friday if we get.

People are grasping at straws again. Nothing to see with this storm. Nogaps, JMA, Cmc and its ensembles? Next! Teleconnections don't favor a big event at all. Temps also look very marginal again for lower elevations. We know how last system went. Well actually looks like there will be some cold air in place.
