My yard is blighted with daffodilsThey are everywhere.  I'm glad to say, though, I've grown as a man, with more restraint, and I'm less demonstrative too.  No longer do I rage about the yard stomping the cursed things back to hell, where they came from; but, rather, I smile calmly..... serenely accepting........ as I run the nasty little harbingers of spring over with the lawn mower!!

Finally, on the 18z I see a storm I can hope to believe in...a low in Fla. with cold air near by.  Frame 36 maybe?  T

Yes they are, along with the forsythia bushes  ^_^

edit...the 18z gfs gives me 33 and drizzle on Friday   :P

Its not SE weather but since I'm no longer shut out of seeing snow this winter i had to share. Today was crazy up here in Cincinnatti, 275 and 75 shut down because of two massive pile-ups due to a snow burst. I was on the outer edge of the snow shower that caused the accidents and while I just had light to moderate snow in the area I was working, less than 10 miles away had whiteout conditions. Crazy stuff. Back to your regularly scheduled banter.

Luckily I wasn't near 75 or 275, but a 50 and 80 car pile up on the same day in the same area is just crazy. hoping Friday's storm can trend further south for y'all back home, plus should help keep it all snow here if that happens.

http://wcpo.m0bl.net/ has good coverage of what happened, unfortunately a 12 year old girl lost her life while standing around the median after what I assume was the intial domino to fall in this event.

Oddly, forsythia doensn't bother.  It's those loud daffodils screaming Spring, Spring, Spring, while I'm still trying to find winter, that drive me crazy, lol.  Good luck with some freezing drizzle, but don't go driving :)  T

There are things growing everywhere down here also. Ha! And our drought friend is coming back.

Well if you feel bad about our Jan 17th bust just look at New England. 6-12" with locally higher amounts forecast for Portsmouth NH and Portland ME. Right now the moon is out with a few clouds and all the returns look to be passing well south off the Cape and Islands.

During January 1985, how was the cold dispersed? LOL in my area yesterday, the record low was -1 set in 1985. -1. Ha! Then I went to check ATL record low and it was 18 set in 2009 and I check CLT and it's -5 in 1985.

Ya might want to check your numbers again. ;) Atlanta hit -8° the morning of the 21st and -6° the 20th. Columbus' record low, all-time too, was Jan. 21, 1985 with -2°.

The way I view this winter is a mounting crescendo of expectations cause by the forecast of a cold, eventful winter, follwed by a plethora of cold weather in the long range which never materialized, and will end with a cascade of hopes falling into an early Spring and brutally hot/dry summer. Have a nice day everyone
