Bevo
If his post bother you so bad...I would stop reading them!! (1) I don't like to censor anyone. Even though they may post the same thing over and over, they are still opinions. As are mine. (2) Brick is like an excitable cousin that always seems to be at your house. He may not contribute to house hold chores or putting toys away, but he's your cousin and occasionally says things that improves your time together. (3) "I would stop reading them" - always easier said than done.
Carolina2Texas
lol funny little side converstation. I too actually don't like the extreme cold unless it's gonna treat us with some snow or other interesting precipitation. Many of aquaintances are in the same boat. so much extra work warming up the car, scraping frost etc. etc.
metalicwx366
Score for at least asking the question instead of assuming it was only about you. Having said that... How have you not had that impression based on numerous members responses to you? Maybe ***hole-ish is the wrong word. But you have certainly posted with an aire of know-it-all qualities recently. Well sort of.. I just don't like when things are discussed for a while and it never comes to fruition. It has been like this all winter. Same thing is being said about FEB with people mentioning the CFS showing cold 2-4 weeks out and Euro weeklies showing Miller As 2-4 weeks out. NavarreDon
The bust level was always at 10 for this area just over the SC line. But yeah, tough but such as is life. It was a 10+ for Asheville.....an area that shouldn't be boarderline. Not a good look this morning on the way into work. Such is life with the weather. There is always going to be winners & losers. Really happy for the winners but, it sucks for us losers!
strongwxnc
Sure enough Don. Hopefully lessons were learned for next time. But you are right about your area should not be on the board. pcbjr
Not sure where else to ask this. The Model Center (Beta) is not looping for me (on a couple different computers at a couple different locations, so I don't think it's on my end). Anyway, is anyone else having a problem? Any ideas on getting it to work if it is on my end?

RevDodd
Well, dang! I believe we now know why it didn't snow for so many folks... The sky was wounded. When it was wounded, it cried. Tears are salty water. Salty water doesn't freeze at 32 degrees. Therefore, there was no freezing aloft, and no snow below.
Snowless in Carrollton
Looks like the models were right about the snow skipping Atlanta. I still can't believe the snow literally got within 5 miles of my house and just collapsed. I couldn't have any worse luck. I'm almost ready to say screw it and bring on spring. This winter has been just as horrible as last. Maybe worse after this last tease we just had.

And you have to know that at some point, they will be right again.

Such is life with the weather. There is always going to be winners & losers. Really happy for the winners but, it sucks for us losers! I mentioned this in the obs thread, but Asheville seems to get screwed a lot of times when it has to depend on moisture from the deformation zone. If it had been a few degrees cooler we would have had some great rates earlier in the day. By the time the cold arrived, the precip was gone, and the energy had already shifted east. I will keep that in mind the next time I see a situation like this. Personally, I want to see a more classic overrunning event where we barely escape the warm nose. There is plenty of time left for another event this year.

rawlee
I admittedly don't know a ton about weather models, etc. My gauge on this board is Huffman for the expertise and Cold Rain for the mojo. Pretty scientific huh? Pretty bummed for my 4 y/o, she's never seen any snow she can remember that was worth much. We'll get 'em next time! Hope you folks don't eat each other alive till then, it's mad salty up in here this morning.

WilkesboroDude
My grade for this winter is now a B+ - Hurricane Sandy snow showers - Sleet Storm - Jan. 17th epic snow rates I have ever witnessed...1-3+ Just need a normal winter storm and I will further increase my letter grade. This winter has been just as horrible as last. Maybe worse after this last tease we just had. I think the models did a decent job overall, considering all the different variables that have to go right for snow. The truth is that weather models are never going to be extremely accurate when it comes to precipitation. Of course, if they bust on a rainfall event, nobody really cares or remembers. Same with temperatures. Who cares if a forecast is off by two degrees? Well, that two degrees can make all the difference in a winter event. So all the hand-wringing about the models never being right is just a lot of wasted energy in my opinion.

Being a college math instructor, all I can say is that your definition of a B+ is much higher than any grade I would ever award for those types of results. You must grade on the 25-point scale versus a 7- or 10-point scale.

Bevo
Yep. That's the case with most on here. Even if you know it won't happen, you still are being defensive over it. Wait - l want to be sure we are clear on this. The defensiveness has not been out of someone *suggesting* that they might be wrong. It comes from someone *belligerently insisting* that they are wrong and are further idiots for thinking it the first place. I believe most of the charged exchanges between you and others (myself included) would have gone down much differently had an insulting tone not been used when questioning our thoughts on the matter. I give you and everyone else on here the benefit of the doubt that we are adults and know what type of comments will elicit certain responses - and will act accordingly. Brick Tamland
Just a thought, but I think the board would be cool if we just had three main threads. One that included all the weather talk, one that was off topic banter about anything else other than weather, and then one for specific storm threats.
