Shawn
The anemometer is bent and the main unit is below the tree... I'm not sure if it was knocked crooked or if it's actually bent. I have no way to check it right now since the tree is in the way. The main unit may be alright. I might go take it off the pole if it is. I love how this tree falls on dude's house right? And all he cares about is his wx station. That's dedication right there!
Brick Tamland
Wow! If that isn't small sample size error. Boston was warmer than my back yard temp today. (I have no idea if this is true. Just need an example.) They must have much warmer winters than I do. Well, all I know is AL, MS, and LA have all had snow this winter before central NC. And they had more last winter, too. dsaur
I used my best agent. Double Mole 7 Oh, man, oh , man, Burns, I LOVE that pic. I need you to send me the hi res version. If I get that animated I'll be getting covered up in sleet!!! Great, great find, lol. Greg gave me a soccer ball snow flake after my pizza plate snow flake story, and it's highly revered in the mojo pantheon, and this Mole will be revered too!! Dang, I'm going to get so much sleet!!! You bring me luck, Burnsy ....at least you did with rain Tony
WxKnurd
This is just my opinion, but it doesn't even seem to be close for Charlotte. We're still sitting at 42 degrees or so. 850's are crashing from the north west to the southeast, we will be joining the switchover within the next hour to hour and a half I would bet/hope. Especially with that big slug of moisture coming up from the Upstate. The dynamics of this low are really starting to exert themselves as evidenced by how rapidly back filling began in the Upstate. I've already seen a few sleet pellets mixed in and snow flakes earlier so the cold air is ready to take this from rain to snow, the question is just how soon and how long will we have the heavy rates with said cold air. We can't for sure say we will get the forecast amount, but downstream reports have me confident in what the models were spitting out regarding changeover time. **Edit - Though Asheville switching back to rain is concerning. Might have the dreaded warm nose south of 40 to deal with, oh how I miss living in northern Catawba County lol**

Stovepipe
That was legitimately funny. The atmosphere has a way of shutting that whole thing down. (obscure?)
Stovepipe
Tony you would have needed a diaper (assuming you don't already wear them) if you'd been in the sleet storm I experienced up on Foothills Parkway today. WNash
Kudos to the SE forum, who at a hint of busting low keep their spirits up. Contrast that to the Mid Atl crowd who want to tear each others heads off. I miss living in the south.

My hat is off to you, sir. Well when you spend $500 on something to have it only for a month and get it smashed by a tree, it kinda makes you mad. The OLD garage is fine and was NOT my house. I appreciate your concern.

I'll take a better look tomorrow as well as another look at the garage. Should be an easy fix if necessary; I obviously overacted. That 'ol garage somehow withstood a tree landing on it, though. Disc
I'm not making fun! Maybe your homeowners policy will cover it (if the deductible is low enough)? Yeah, I believe we'll be okay along those lines. Guess I'll know more in the morning if there is any serious structural damage. By the way, I do like your idea of receiving 150% of my annual snowfall for the next 5 years.

jburns
My aplogies for my outburst in the observation thread about my weather station. Couldn't believe something I just got gets hit by a tree! I just got back from taking my bride to dinner and haven't been back in the other thread but I'd bet some money that my "wind accuracy" comment had something to do with whatever happened. I apologize if I upset you. Personally I have learned not to get too upset over "stuff" because in the long run, at least to me, stuff doesn't matter much. That said, I sometimes forget that everyone doesn't view the world the way I do and end up making an attempt at humor at an inappropriate time. Again, I'm sorry if I upset you. I was overacting about it and like you said, it can be replaced if need be. I'd normally laugh at a comment like yours, but I was just still pissed that the tree just happened to fall right on it! Now that I look back on it, it was a witty comment.

Stovepipe
If I actually ever win the lottery, no joke regardless of money amount, Ima helicopter me some sleet over on Tony's house so that he can slip and slide for at least two weeks straight.
