I hope don't have the flu. I feel terrible. Anyone know any medicine or remedies that actually work.

Do you have a warm mist humidifier? If so, place it beside where you are sleeping/sitting and put some Vicks Vaporub on the edge of it where the steam comes out. Other than that and fluids, it just has to run its course. Hope you feel better soon. I work in the medical field (in the lab) and we've had an unbelievable amount of positive flu tests.

If you get a cough put some Vicks on the soles of your feet as well.  I know, I know, but it works for some reason.  T

Hey, SP, how's that plan to paint woodpecker tongues with hot peppers going :)  I think it might work on birds, but I have no actual data.  If you get some solid, we'll start a data base!  T

Plan has been put on hold temporarily as I'm headed out of town this weekend.  Hoping to bring back some exotic peppers from my trip.  I'll let you know how it works.  Meanwhile the woodpecker is going to ride out this flizzard all cozy in my attic.

Get you a disco ball and a laser projector, and light that attic up!  They'll either leave, or get so tired from dancing you can catch 'em :)  Ina Gada davita  cranked up enough to shake things downstairs might work too, and if not you'll feel groovy, man!   That  reminds me of when Bart changed the sheet music for the organist, and the church was rocking, lol.  T

You are just chock full of awesome ideas Tones.  Can I hire you as a personal life consultant?

I'm seriously grinning over here.

No joke you can find the disco ball at Lowe's...less than 20$. Yes, I own a disco ball, I'm groovy like that.

All I have on hand is a strobe light, black light, and some of those trippy black light Grateful Dead posters from the college days.  Wonder if that would tire em a bit...  Knowing my luck they'd dig it and bring all their friends over.  Start crashing on the couch, raiding the fridge, and generally being a bunch of lazy freeloading peckers.

From RAH. It's about to be on!

AS FOR THE WINTER STORM WATCH... THE LATEST GUIDANCE IS COMING IN MUCH IN LINE WITH THE PREVIOUS MODELS... AND WITH OUR CURRENT FORECAST. IF ANYTHING... THE SNOWFALL ACCUMULATION FORECAST MAY BE UNDERDONE GIVEN THE EXPECTED STRONG LIFT/DYNAMICAL COOLING EXPECTED AS THE MID/UPPER LOW TRACK ACROSS THE REGION. THE CURRENT FORECAST TRACK FROM NEAR AUGUSTA TO NEAR CAE TO NEAR FAY OF THE MID LEVEL CENTER IS VERY FAVORABLE FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOW EVENTS FOR AT LEAST THE CURRENT WATCH AREA OF CENTRAL NC. IF THE REST OF THE MODELS ARRIVE WITH SIMILAR TRACKS/STRENGTH OF THE SYSTEM... THE SNOW ACCUMULATION FORECASTS LIKELY BE BEEFED UP ACROSS AREAS ALONG AND NORTH OF A LINE FROM HIGH ROCK TO ASHEBORO TO RALEIGH AND ROCKY MOUNT...NORTHWARD... WITH THE MAIN IMPACT AFTER DARK THURSDAY.

Looking over the High Resolution NAM right now.....I've never seen such dynamic cooling as this. For areas in northern and maybe central Georgia, and points north, the rain will turn to snow like a light switch tomorrow afternoon and evening. And then the actual RATE OF PRECIP is incredible. The Higher Resolution version (which by the way is probably the best model out there for situations like this) really drops the snow all along northeast Alabama, northern Georgia, eastern TN Upstate SC, and quickly develops in more of Virginia and the Carolinas by dark. For some of us, this could end up being the heaviest we've ever seen snow fall, that's if the NAM HI RES is correct. It's being rock solid steady, so I think it has merit. But we'll see what GFS looks like soon. The only good news is that this system will be on the move quickly...much faster moving than most Winter storms. The bad news is, that when 2" per hour rates occur, the trees simply can't handle that much beyond 3 or 4 hours. Hopefully we end this event quickly.

OK, I know he is approaching this from a safety standpoint, but I have to disagree with him on the final assessment.  The majority of us snow-lovers on here would actually prefer to prolong the event.  :mapsnow:

Bring on a couple feet of this stuff!  We don't get many opportunities like this around these parts.
