Sadly, no.  He passed away in 1956 in a tragic car accident.  Her mom and her Aunts have great stories and amazing artwork.  Very cool about your mom.  He was a Major in the Marine Corps during World War 2.  He was a Battlefield artist.  Some of his art is at the Marine Corps museum, the Commadants Home at Marine Corps Headquarters and at the Smithsonian.

I didn't know any of that!  I just always liked the Buster Crabb version, and they'd show them a lot at the Sat Morning Movies.  You go at 12:00 and wouldn't get out 'til 5 or so.  You'd get 3 or 4 episodes of Flash, or the Swamp Cruiser, then another bunch, all late 30's or 40's stuff, then the two features.  For a dime.  The parents loved it :)  I didn't know the story behind the creator.  Check and see if he was into weather.  You've got the avatar, and I've got the Weather Moles.   I got them from those movies.  Ming the Magnificent had the Mole Men as henchman.  That's where  the Moles got their form.  Burger had a cut the other day.  If he was into weather, then we've got a mystery triangle of weather power :)  And I'll be sledding soon!!!  T

Man...I'm not one to complain about NWS WFO's normally...but the RAH forecast and forecast discussion left me scratching my head this morning. No talk of deformation band...the forecaster said cold chasing moisture almost never works out so probably only a 15-20 min snow event. Huh?

RAH is bitter after their 'Non-event' guarantee didn't work out like they hoped.

That's RAH, I'd imagine if the 12z suite looks good they will mention the possibility of accumulation snow in the afternoon discussion but probably won't forecast it until tomorrow unless the models really go crazy.

Also, does anyone else remember an event some years back where they called for 6-12 with WSWs out everywhere and all we ever got was 33 degree rain with a bit of sleet mixed in?  I swear RAH has gone into ultra-conservative mode since that event but I can't seem to remember exactly when it was (5-8 years ago I'd guess, not even 100% sure about that).

Love how the models trended stronger and stronger with this. Allan Huffman calling for 1 to 3 inches here now. Not much but I will gladly take it. I just want to see some snow! Hopefully, this is just the opening act and more is to come down the road. Never give up!

Based on your previous posts, I thought you had given up long ago!    :D

Those who gloat over what may be,

will find the storm gone by next 00z.

So close your mouth and show some class,

or mother nature will kick your ass.

Oh Mr. Burns, you're so uptight

You know the fog is always right.

Either that or all in jest

I pen the phrase that serves me best.

But in this case, as luck will show

Someone soon shall see it snow.

If not my eyes that see flakes fall

I hope that you will get them all.

Str8cashhomey can attest - my internet personality is about as close to my actual personality as one could get.  Some will like it, and some will not.  But in the end, you will at least get honesty from me.

I didn't doubt it, good sir.  I respect the honesty and hope you find me reciprocating.

I think jburns put it quite eloquently in an earlier post:  most people's Internet personalities are a really good reflection of their true character.  How they act anonymously is a good measure of their true character.
