burgertime
Since when has the DGEX CMC, and Nam ever been right? No point in posting that. If DGREX was ever right Memphis would be buried in 2 feet now. CMC was right on Christmas 2010, DGEX in December of 2009 and NAM has been right (according to Robert) in the 84 hour range for the last couple of ULL's. Would love to hear your disco and thoughts in the Jan. thread when we're discussing the models.
bhamwx205
Larry is speculating on pattern recognition in the longer range. Is he saying conclusively there will be a Miller A system during that time frame? Nope. He is saying, based on his understanding of climatology and statistics that that period remains favorable. What's funny about that? You may put as much weight into his observations that you desire, I suppose. Did I say what he said was funny? No I was asking a simple question. Good lord take a pill

I don't know if it's negative posts, or just the sheer volume of negative posts from one person. Especially from an area that doesn't seem to have a very similar winter climate as a lot of us. It's like apples and oranges.
metalicwx366
More record breaking temps tomorrow and potentially Wednesday if the sprinkles and clouds don't move in too early.
Bevo
Could be a 20 degree difference in temps tomorrow from Raleigh to Fayettville. Crazy. Meanwhile the deep south is getting more winter weather than here. Weather is just wacky. If you're considering Arkansas, Northern Miss, Northern Louisiana, Northern Alabama and Tenn the deep south - it's really not that uncommon. It's obvious when there is a chance for snow for NC when all models show the potential. During the Dec 26 2010 no one was saying models were struggling with Synoptic setups or other things and we all knew there was the potential for a beast. Now with the BS on Friday, surface temperatures are a torch and 850s are barely marginal.

I can remember numerous times the GFS suffered from "convective feedback" issues...or the placement on 00z of a run wasn't correct or the models were "struggling". I don't think WNC has an issue getting snow from the current set up, and I will admit that even CLT down to GSP could have a brief period *IF there is enough qpf to affect the lower temps. But yeah...I'm not expecting it.

dsaur
Haha! Now that's funny right there. Hey baby, they don't call me Big T for nothin... No, wait, I was just railerying, I was just railerying!! I don't think I've got the hang of it yet. Dang, CR! You are so right! I don't have a clue what the verb is, or how to pronounce it. Man, you obviously have a fine understanding of women, having 4 families to deal with at Xmas. I'd be in a lot of trouble shouting at the pretty lady without doing my research...I'd sound like Mush Mouth Lemon! And that reminds me of a story about my fine self, and the weird things that happen to me. Year ago I'm in the house and I hear gun shots, so I poke my head out the back door, and there are some kids in the field next door shooting a rifle into the ground. Now, this isn't unusual around there, understand...on New Years Eve I used to go lie on the ground and watch the tracers go over. I love a good light show!! So anyway, I'm in the house doing my arty works and the phone rings and it's my neighbor lady calling to ask me to stop the shooters as she was just in the yard and a bullet just missed her kid. Now, I'm usually not to keen on approaching gunmen, or in this case gunboys, and telling them to stop shooting, but I didn't know their parents to call, and I know the gal is going to call the police unless they stop, so I head out to the fence. Ok, so I have this hog wire fence to keep the dogs in, which it doesn't do, so I also have a cattle stinger set up too. A single wire going from insulated post to insulated post around the whole hard. Long story, but I had Samoyeds and they aren't too far removed from the wild, only having been civilized in the past few hundred years, and they got in cow chasing trouble before, the two of them pulled down a full grown cow, but the nice farmer only hit them with bird shot, and I know buckshot would be next, even though we got the beefer vet seen, thus the electric fence, and a pretty good one. So anyway, I head out across the yard, forgetting the fence is plugged in. Well, a cattle fence will give a nice pop, if the weeds are off it, and I'd just mowed, so as I eased up to the hog wire to accost the miscreants, my pants leg, and leg, lay up against the hot wire, and when I spoke I grapped the hog wire fence....so what come out was a gutteral, keening WaGsAAhrrrjjj......ARrhjjjuuggggggglllllll yyyyyyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall wwwwaagoooooooooaaahhhww...and I'm flapping back and forth on that fence like I'm having a vision, and then when I got my breath after letting go the hog wire, I commenced to cussing, and I can cuss good. Man, you never saw gunmen, uh, giunboys take off running so fast in your life, lol. I guess I looked like tiny BigFoot with a wild look on my face, lol. They never went out there ricocheting bullets off rocks again either!! True story. I think the old lady was off traveling and I used to find all kinds of things to get into out of the ordinary, and off times trouble, or the troublesome, was involved. I think the old lady was off traveling and I used to find all kinds of things to get into out of the ordinary, and off times trouble, or the troublesome, was involved. T Ok, now THAT is a funny story!! Well done. That's why that neighbor likes you, cause you got those mean ol kids to stop shooting bullets off rocks into her yard. You oughtta take her over some shell casings and remind her how awesome you are! That story reminded me of a story about my grandfather and cats. He was always getting into something with cats. I could go all day about that. But in this case, he had just bought a new car and of course, he parked it in his carport. They had 3 or 4 cats outside. One, in particular, would hop up on the warm car and get paw prints all over the hood. Well my grandfather was a fix-it man...could fix anything. He had every tool and about every item or piece of junk you could imagine. One of the things he had was a cattle fencer. One day he got an idea on how to stop the cat from making paw prints on his hood. He went out and ran a wire across the hood of the car, about 6 inches high and hooked it to the box and turned it on. He sat inside, watching out the window. Eventually, the cat hopped up on the hood, walked under the wire, tail nice and tall up in the air, and BAM! That pulse hit and the cat's legs went straight and it ripped a big time MMMMEEEEEOOOOOW!!!!! That cat took off, but not before winding up like the road-runner legs from the old Bugs Bunny show. It spun in place for a couple of seconds before it finally got traction and zipped away. Of course, it left behind huge, long scratches on the hood of his car. Hahaha! He never had to worry about paw prints anymore.
