I was being sarcastic about the whole tundra thing. I do want to look into what it means after we see heavy rain events and how long the average wait for winter weather is. Mountains excluded...this is for elevations below 2,000ft in NC. I need to define what a heavy rain event is, location, variables, etc..may have something ready to present for next winter.

My family and I have been graduates and supporters of the University for many, many years. I actually have family that live up that way and I hope to live up there again one day.

All fan bases become excited when they beat Carolina.

Ok then the post wasn't for you haha.I do understand UNC has a huge following of non-graduates so it irks me as a state fan and graduate when they brag about their team and their university, etc. I understand people can be fans of whatever they want, but there is a different sense of pride when you have attended and graduate from said university. That goes for any fan base. UNC is known for their greatness in the majority of sports they play so that is certainly something to be proud of.

Funny how Carolina fans say State is not their rival...but lose to them one time and they get all defensive and start talking about their greatness.

I like the tarheels. But sad to say I hate how 99% of the fanbase acts it's stupid, state played a good game and beat UNC last night, no reason for excuses or bringing up past wins.

State is the better team this year. But they seem to only play like it lately when they play Duke or Carolina. Carolina is missing too many pieces to the puzzle this year. They should be better next year.

No we seem to play like that at home and not away...I'm very concerned with the rematches on the road at Duke and Carolina...they'll want revenge, badly.

Btw: Iceman is a giant troll and is not real...obviously. Someone with that kind of "intellect" wouldn't be on weather forums...he'd be on forums about grills, rims, you know...that kind of stuff.

Someone should probably check his IP...most likely someone with another account on here. Which would result in a ban for both accounts. I might look into this later...it is my field I am majoring in so why not?

Remember March 1st-2nd, 2009?  We got loads of rain during the preceding two days and then got a six-inch dumping of snow on the night of the 1st-2nd.

It can certainly happen.  The sky doesn't need to heal.  The atmosphere is dynamic and new moisture can always be on the horizon.

There has already been a paper.  The Gollings/Willy Effect.

The short version......When sprites and jets propagate upward into the ionosphere, they interact with free electrons energizing them into plasma which then moves across the earths magnetic field blown by upper level winds.  This causes the plasma to dump it's energy which propagates downward, reacting with high level moisture, and causing it to condense.  This cycle of cloud formation continues until the free electrons have all dumped their energy/rejoining with "empty" molecules, and the cloud formation winds down.  The advent of further storm formation must then wait for the plasma bands above the storms to re energize from the solar winds, which strips electrons from the molecules in the ionosphere, juicing the plasma bands, allowing the formation of more storms, when the plasma bands blow across the magnetic field, dumping their energy, causing condensation in the troposphere, creating storms, and phantom jets and sprites, and the cycle forms once again.

This tumescent period during the molecular stripping by the solar wind, and the eventual  plasma energy dump could equate to the "sky healing" :) T

A cold evil night

by iceman

walked outside to check out the scene

hard to walk straight, to much lean

brisk cold air all around

the snow falls fiercely on the ground

the winds are brisk, like katabatic

each footstep is so dramatic

the barometric pressure is dropping fast

The snowstorm revs up, so slow to past

In the distance transformers are blowing

all i see is bright silver glowing

thunder and lighting crashes the sky

the snow falls heavy, not wanting to die

rates i would guess at 4 inch an hour

I am soon realizing this could be dire

I run back inside, with a quick pace

trip on a snow dune, fall flat on my face

looked at the radar, shocked what i see

60dbz banding, why is this happening to me

20-1 ratios is what I figure

What the hell is happening the snow is getting deeper

the power goes out in such a flash

starting to tremor, the house is being lashed

trees start to fall, throughout the east bend

I started to scream knowing this could be the end

I was awoken with the sun in my eyes

it was a national guardsman I began to cry

the town was in ruins, from this deadly beast

over 3 feet of snow had fallen, my stomach wanting to feast

later found out, all eastern Carolina was bashed

cities like Raleigh-Durham, completely trashed

A 940 low had move right off the coast

it deepen so rapidly, all the mets could only boast

The Euro,GFS,and Nam was pulled from the sky

They did not predict this storm they to had to die

I later grew old, never forgetting this storm

I will never forget the night it was born

dedicated to all the souls who lost there lives

in the great snowstorm of Feb 23 2013. May god have mercy on there souls

Can we ban this iceman guy yet? False observations and admission of felonious acts.

The End

So it seems my cover has been blown

Even my avatar is made up and quite overdone

I am not a ghetto white boy from south-pines

but a fellow member, who has been posting for quite some time

I am not white trash who treats women like dirt

but a educated member of society, that's alert

You will never figure out who I am

So let the finger pointing start and begin

I will leave you all with this last little line

and give you a hint, its worth at least a dime

I love the wilderness and play at night

moving with the weather and it's plight

"The study of meteorology is fascinating, but learning to read the maps is the key"

Iceman out and goodbye forever!

Too bad he's leaving.

He's a cheater too. Roy is a terrible coach. Fedora will be gone in 2 years and the football fan will be miserable again. NCAA will be back and drop the hammer. It is inevitable. It's the Carolina way. Just be glad Calvin quit the other night or they would have won by 30+.

^I'm just messing around. Kind of. But not really. But yeah. :). No question that UNC has a great BB history. Football, nasomuch. Teams get up for playing them. Back in the day, the rivalry was State-Carolina. Not Duke-Carolina. But State has sucked forever. During the Matty D. days, I didn't like knowing we we were going to win every time we played them. They just were horrible....kinda like us during most of the Lowe years. But now it's good that there actually can be a competitive game. Anyway, whining aside, most of the Carolina fans I know are ok, and the rivalry (and it is a rivalry) is fun again.
