ChrisM
how would he have that much? Will has just over 15" since the 26th...does he even have that much on the ground? He had 4" from the previous storm I believe, and reported 11" in this most recent storm so I guessed a few down because of settling...definitely not much melting haha

ORH_wxman
I have about a foot on the ground. Had close to 16" in the two storms. Close to an inch on Christmas but that didn't really contribute to the snow pack. The first storm turned into about 4.5" of complete concrete so it has no compaction ability anymore. The top stuff was fairly high ratio so that will continue to settle and sublimate fairly easily.
OSUmetstud
in 5 days you lost an inch of snow from the first storm...the one that turned to rain? yeah okay... you've been above freezing, too.

ORH_wxman
It also depends where you measure. If you measure in an open field then you are probably going to measure less than some sheltered yard. I'd bet most of my area that is open has a bit less than the 11 or 12" in a sheltered yard and the same thing for Kevin's area. The Stafford Springs coop had a 9" snow depth this morning. I think they are around 600-650 feet.
ChrisM
For reference I got like 13" total from the two storms and my snow depth (eyeballing the board out the window - - not scientific at all lol) looks to be about 9 or 10 inches. I live in a colder place than Kevin but 3 or so inches off the deepest depth seems to be about right.

Mr Torchey
So, is the NAM trying to run a quick hitting wave up along the boundary at the end of the run? I hope so, sure would be a shame to waste all this nice polar air.

Ginx snewx
Nick, nit picking. Staffordville which received 4 reported the following 4 4 13 9 7, Kevin received 6 and 11 so lets say his temps were similar then do the math 6 6 17 13 11. I know his neighbor reported a 16 inch depth the other morning too. I see no exaggeration at all.

ORH_wxman
Kevin is beating me by 6" this winter, if I want to keep talking crap about how NW CT is superior to NE CT I have to catch up haha. You need to move up northwest a couple towns to regularly get more than his area. You are probably only slightly better than 50/50 to get more than his backyard in any given season. CoastalWx
Kevin had a solid 4" base before the 11" fluff job. Settling/sublimation would probably lower it by 3" so I mean 12" does not seem unreasonable.
