Will I read that you are not overly excited at all about the pattern after this weeks winter set up, are you about ready to punt the first 15 or so days of this month or do you see any promise for sne, any potential for something sneaky which looks to have gone by the wayside at least for this week.

I'm always looking for stuff....esp being in the interior. We can have a putrid pattern/airmass and still get a nice event ala MLK 2010...particularly in the dead of winter when climo is at its coldest.

That said, I don't see any particular threat that peaks my interest right now. So we may end up waiting until mid month to get something. Hopefully something pops up before then.

Wow upgraded to the latest software, and as always, there are issues when that happens.  This one seems to have more that the other upgrades.  IPB will sometimes do some whacky changes that don't work with how we have the forum tweaked here and they have to go back through the code to see where things are changed.  Just have some patience and things will be resolved.  You can always check the Help Forum to see what's going on.

at work for the first time since the storm, nice to see heavy snow down in SE CT, stuff is solid too, hard to sublimate this stuff. Yea looks about as boring as it can get but after 4 days of playing in the the snow its all worth it. Retaining the snow has been great, at least we have that.

Thanks Will, the cold is not entirely wasted, ponds are freezing up fast we are getting a pick up game of pond hockey Friday night and bringing the kids skating Saturday morning.  Skiing is epic right now, entirely different from last winter.......I really think some of the recent winters have spoiled many of us living outside the mountains.

It got down to -2.4F here before the clouds and flurries moved in.  Deep snowcover FTW. This is going help sustain us right into next week even as the pattern goes to hell.  But I image we all have to deal with  a day or two torch probably before any relalignment to an eastern trough.

nice, got to 5 here.

+1

It was a great few days after the Saturday thump.  Let's hope there's more in our immediate future.

Looks like the airport at ORH got down to 9F. Not bad for terrible radiation. That was actually below MOS by several degrees. Amazing what a deep snow pack can do...not just right in your backyard, but upstream as well. The airmasses don't moderate nearly as much. Last year we were trying to advect what few cold airmasses we got over bare ground in the Great Lakes .
