...HEAVIER SNOW SHOWERS AND ISOLATED SQUALLS WILL AFFECT CENTRAL

CLINTON...CENTRE...CLEARFIELD...NORTHEASTERN BLAIR...NORTHEASTERN

CAMBRIA...NORTHERN HUNTINGDON AND SOUTHERN ELK COUNTIES THROUGH 330

PM...

AT 135 PM EST...AN AREA OF LIGHT SNOW WITH SCATTERED EMBEDDED

HEAVIER SNOW SHOWERS COVERED MUCH OF CENTRAL AND SOUTHWESTERN

PENNSYLVANIA. INDIVIDUAL SNOW SHOWERS WERE TRACKING EAST NORTHEAST

AT 25 TO 30 MPH. VISIBILITIES RANGED FROM 1 TO 2 MILES ACROSS MOST

OF THE REGION...BUT DROPPED BELOW ONE MILE WITHIN THE HEAVIER SNOW

SHOWERS. ICY ROADS HAVE LED TO A CLOSURE OF ROUTE 322 IN THE SEVEN

MOUNTAINS AREA DUE TO PARTIAL MELTING OF SNOW FROM TIRES AND

REFREEZING ON ROADWAYS.

INCREASING INSTABILITY THROUGHOUT THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING HOURS

WILL ONLY INCREASE THE COVERAGE OF HEAVIER SNOW BURSTS AND SQUALLS

OVER THE INTERSTATE 80 AND 99 CORRIDORS. ANY SQUALLS COULD RAPIDLY

DROP VISIBILITIES LESS THAN A QUARTER MILE. PARTIAL MELTING AND

REFREEZING MAY CREATE VERY ICY CONDITIONS IF THE ROAD SURFACE IS

UNTREATED.

USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN TRAVELING THROUGH TONIGHT...AS VISIBILITIES

AND ROAD CONDITIONS WILL CHANGE RAPIDLY. THE FOLLOWING CENTRAL

PENNSYLVANIA INTERSTATES WILL BE AFFECTED...I-80 BETWEEN MILE

MARKERS 97 AND 170...I-99 BETWEEN MILE MARKERS 52 AND 85.

THIS WILL ALSO IMPACT THE FOLLOWING MAJOR ROADS...ROUTE 119...ROUTE

Nice pic 2001... that band looks intense on radar!  Hope it holds together out this way.  We're probably closing in on a fluffy inch imby

2001kx nice!!

With it being 25 degrees the snow is having no problem laying on the streets. "most everything coated"

:snowing:

not much happening now.

Left home with about 1.5 of powder. Roads were just starting to get bad. But once I reached Altoona barley any snow on the ground.  Looks like maybe between 0.5 or 1 inch here. Hard to tell due to the wind picking up.

I just measured a little over 1.5" here total so far today after that last squall moved thru. Looks like that squall put some more on the ground just down the road in Altoona with another squall coming off the mountain. There's some nice fluff to the snow today too. Easily the best of the year ratio wise.
