CoastalWx
Why is this turning to rain in areas that were supposed to get pounded with snow? Like Boston? Is it tracking even closer than we thought? The boundary layer was progged to get mild, not really a surprise to be honest. This was talked about. I actually has 2-4 last night for here..lower than many had, but thought maybe 4-6 this morning with the boosted QPF. In the end, boundary layer issues.. However, we may get a 3 hr dumpage after 9-10pm.

Tropopause_Fold
Why is this turning to rain in areas that were supposed to get pounded with snow? Like Boston? Is it tracking even closer than we thought? No. This is what happens when there is no mechanism to drain low level cold into E MA. The low level warming on Easterly flow is / was a real concern. Dynamics and bombing lows can sometimes work wonders but more often than not the atlantic is king.

teebrdsfan
If all it takes is 15+ dBZ to get 1''/hr+ snow, then maybe. Heaviest snow between 8-midnight over here, per Gray. I'd think MHT would be about the same

Not to be to obsequious, but you and Scott stand your ground and more often than not are right when it comes to eastern mass dynamics. Hopefully before the end of the year you get your just rewards. Amped
Did not see theEastern CT coast getting 6-10" while BOS changed over. I'll give forecasters that. The low just happened to bomb and stall in the perfect spot to make that happen.
Tropopause_Fold
With no arctic high to the north. Sometimes all of us need to go back to basics... we all get lost in a sea of data sometimes... but there was zero north of NE to help eastern areas. And the antecedent air mass was crap. We talked about that too. Not a problem for interior weenies but a real issue for coastal folks in December I just wish I hadn't bit on the crazy numbers models were spitting out for E MA. I didn't until early this morning

danstorm
So tired of this freKing winter.... But I met wxniss...and that was good. It's amazing - when I lived in Boston from 03-07, I can't recall experiencing the "Inside 128"/CF rain crap that BOS can be notorious for... usually, it would rain all the way back to like ORH or be all snow. My condolences, sir. You guys deserve better. If it helps any, my fiancee and I recently moved to the Forest Hills Gardens, a beautiful suburban-like area of Queens... I woke up expecting 3-5" to whiten the landscape prior to an Arctic week... unfortunately, we had nearly all rain. Grayish tint at the end with some glop but a definite dudski.
