ace0927
I can see Upton's reasoning for a WAA for Suffolk, but not Nassau, and especially not southern Nassau. As the mid level centers get closed and organized, temperature will drop, sure, but the precip is going to consolidate towards the coastal. I'd be pretty surprised if any banding hit Nassau. I hope Upton is right, but I just don't see it. THIS! Not one flake...and didnt/dont expect any
RutgersWx92
Been under a nice band but it's mainly sleet, not snow. Measured 2.5'', which was on the low end of my expectations but it still looks beautiful outside.
famartin
Rain/snow line per CC is sinking south across the sound toward the North Shore.

green tube
How much did you get? 1.5 here in Edison 1.1" well...... at least i got to measure a whole inch. these tenths-of-inches bitches are getting on my nerves.

ag3
So, what is the NWS seeing that others aren't?!? That WWA was a huge surprise. They mention strong banding in the discussion. I can see that for eastern LI but not sure about anyone west of Suffolk and also not for ocean areas.
Christopher
I guess the record still stands for 4 inches (1880) :ee: in central park. Well on next big storm snowstorm......
TWCCraig
Maybe some of the bands just S&E of LI may spin around, maybe advance far as the Nassau/Suffolk border. Who knows.

donsutherland1
Sleet has changed back to snow in the Rye, Mamaroneck, and Larchmont areas on the Long Island Sound. Hopefully, the changeover will soon translate to the North Shore of Long Island and then southward.
jm1220
Also not seeing the need for a WWA for anyone besides Suffolk. For my point and click the total is less than one inch. Might be only a few flakes at this rate. Precip continues to rapidly consolidate east and the storm looks like it won't do anyone in western Suffolk or Nassau any good. Way too late in developing. Temp here still 38 and the edge is already about here.

jm1220
Boston? Boston's going to get clobbered tonight by this as it finally develops a CCB. Probably 4-8" or 5-10". This is a longitude storm like 12/9/05 or 12/26/04.
Manny
Back to light snow here as well. At least it's ending nicely. lol

nzucker
Other then a freak show in November. It's been a 80's type winter. Snow back were it belongs. Boston, state college, and buffalo The winter has barely begun....Central Park only averages 3-4" in December. February is when we usually get big storms. What I like is that we're seeing frequent snowfalls, and arctic air is coming down. Definitely a chance for a light snowfall next week.
Edge Weather
You guys all talk as if the storm is over WAY to the east, yet it is still snowing moderately WAY out here to the west. Some of you really need to relax. The low is bombing now and will pull the cold air into it. Many of you on Long Island will change over to snow. Just relax. TWCCraig
18z NAM barely has us an inch for tonight, I wish I could see what Upton's seeing. Unless we can get banding to push back N&W...

ag3
On dual pol, you can see the warm tongue collapsing towards the coastal. It will be cold enough in the next hour or 2. Problem is getting good enough precip. Especially for anyone west of central Nassau County.
