MJO812
It'll also be when the storm's just about over for us and New England starts getting slammed. Their longitude's helping them out today in a huge way. I think it will help us out . It will help them more though.
ag3
I think it will once the coastal gets going. There won't be much precip by the time that happens. Low bombs out too late. Eastern sections and into SNE will get the heavy precip from low.
winterwx21
Same in piscataway. A little sleet too. I have a little sleet mixing in with the light snow now too. Hopefully it goes back to all snow as the heavier precip moves in, and we add to the 2 inch total here.
famartin
Looks like R/S line may have reached maximum NW extent.

nzucker
It'll also be when the storm's just about over for us and New England starts getting slammed. Their longitude's helping them out today in a huge way. The low pressure is closer to the coast and about 3mb stronger than the 0z GFS had it progged. Here was last night's GFS: Here is the actual location, argues for a bigger impact for Long Island:
PB GFI
The problem is that with the exception of last yr the last decade spoiled most.. This was a typical event back in the day Your right before 2000 with850 s at minus 3 with the surface at 33 and a storm bombing from hatteras to cape cod it didnt snow south of exit 16 on the thruway. jasperk99
Yeah I alraedy have 2", temp below freezing, and radar looks excellent. Going to get a big snowfall out of this I think. Which radar are you looking at? I have stayed all snow here in Northwest Yonkers, but it is very light
Juliancolton
Echoes just offshore are really cranking now with the dynamics of the coastal system. Hope that starts to translate further NW.
Dosh
Light snow mixed with graupel and sleet in westfield. temp steady around 31.5. Lets see what this next batch of good echoes brings. Snow on the ground is already settling/melting and more grass is sticking out. 2" roughly.
nzucker
There won't be much precip by the time that happens. Low bombs out too late. Eastern sections and into SNE will get the heavy precip from low. See my recent post...there is pretty good banding forming in southern NJ. I think a surprise is in order for Long Island and parts of NYC metro as they prepare to get thrashed this afternoon.

I have stayed all snow here in Northwest Yonkers, but it is very light Where in Northwest Yonkers are you? Warburton? I hit that area when I work delivery all the time. We are temporarily in a dryslot looking at DIX and OKX radars, but the banding to our southwest is great.
RIcoastalWX
I think it will help us out . It will help them more though. Mmmmm... not all of us... Still light rain here - not a flake or pellet mixed in... temp down to 33.3 with a dew of 29... so much for 'wet bulbing'... Wind direction between 020 and 050. Edit - 33.

On Warburton on the Hastings border, its looks like that banding is going to miss us to the southeast
Dosh
Now all graupel and sleet, and falling lightly too. Lets hope the coastal can give us a few lashes of snow tonight, this isn't looking pretty.
Isotherm
Low pressure at 925mb to our SE still hasn't closed off. Latest SPC analysis depicts the horrendous flow off the water. We need that circulation to wrap around the coastal low, and fast, before precip is over.
