danstorm
sitting under that band now - heavy wet snow - really pouring. That's good news, I guess. When this started as snow, I thought we were in good shape... I'm learning quickly about LI climo - first Nor'easter I'm riding out in Forest Hills. Rain is miserable. Still like 2-3" on the backside... perhaps 4 if a good band sets up overhead. But the wait is excruciating.
FPizz
Band must be moving in. Heavier snow with big flakes
earthlight
Looks like banding developing from Philly to Northeast NJ over the next hour. Seeing the new mesoscale analysis trying to close the h85 low a little early is a fantastic sign for better lift to the NW of the surface low developing offshore and maintaining that band for a while. jm1220
I feel like I'm living 2/25/10 all over... From here on LI More like 12/9/05. At least for 2/25/10 the snow pivoted its way back east and everyone finally got a good round of heavy snow. For this I'm doubting it ever changes to snow unless dynamics overcome the warm layer over Long Island. Could be a situation where Central Park gets 5" and many of us get some slush at best. And then we watch as Eastern New England gets annihilated by the developing coastal. Frustrating as it gets.

threeyoda
Just went outside, there's already a little over an inch on the ground just from the last hour. And it's good snow, not too fluffy but not wet either. Perfect snow for making snowmen and having snowball fights.
jm1220
Argh, this band is setting itself up just south of me. Still moderate snow, about 1.5" on the ground. It might be a changeover line. That band went over me and nothing really happened, rain intensity stayed the same. Haven't even had one snowflake in 2 hours.
