This January was colder than last January... If you average both months out, it was a comparable Dec-Jan overall. Not a good winter... February will determine which winter gets the nod for being less craptacular.

That's still up in the air here.

January 2012:

January 2013:

Look how close the two months are in terms of mean temperature! With the torch over the next two days, this January may finish warmer than last January!!

27&cmdB1=Go&Month=12&Year=2011&Day=6This January won't be close to as warm for LAF, compared to 2012. Not even close. But it'll be much less snowy.  :axe:

Jan 2012: 31.9º

Jan 2013: 25.9º through yesterday

We'll add a full degree to 1.5º in the end, but yeah.

Making it even more intriguing. Compare December 2011 to December 2012 in Toronto:

December 2011:

http://www.climate.weatheroffice.gc.ca/climateData/dailydata_e.html?timeframe=2&Prov=ONT&StationID=5097&dlyRange=1937-11-01|2013-01-27&cmdB1=Go&Month=12&Year=2011&Day=6

December 2012:

http://www.climate.weatheroffice.gc.ca/climateData/dailydata_e.html?timeframe=2&Prov=ONT&StationID=5097&dlyRange=1937-11-01|2013-01-27&cmdB1=Go&Month=12&Year=2012&Day=6

The mean temperatures of December 2011 and December 2012 were identical. In Toronto, this winter has essentially been identical to last year, except with less snow.

Warm front quickly approaching.  MLI shot up 6 degrees from 42 to 48 between 2153z and 2245z.  Up to 43 here, but about to make a big jump in the next hour or two.

MLI now up to 52 as of 2304z.  10 degree rise in a little over an hour.  Pretty impressive for late evening.  Still only 43 here, so the warm front is somewhere between the QC and here.

LOL, MLI up to 56 at the new midnight ob, which is only 1 degree short of the daily record.  Safe to say it's gonna be history before the day is out.

Up to 49 here just before midnight, which will be the high for the day.  Fog still very dense here, but interestingly the vis on the new midnight ob in MLI is at 10 miles.  Expect substantial improvement in the dense fog here over the next hour.

MLI has jumped 14 degrees in the past 2 hours...at night. This front means business.
