Missouri records. All time Jan max tied at Columbia...Kansas City one degree shy.

 

A RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 74 DEGREES WAS SET AT SPRINGFIELD MO TODAY. THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 72 SET IN 2002.

 

A RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 73 DEGREES WAS SET AT JOPLIN MO TODAY. THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 68 SET IN 2002.

 

 


...RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE SET AT COLUMBIA ASOS...

A RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 77 DEGREES WAS SET AT COLUMBIA TODAY.

THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 67 SET IN 2002. THIS ALSO TIES THE ALL TIME MONTHLY HIGH.

A RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 74 DEGREES WAS SET AT THE KANSAS CITY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT THIS AFTERNOON.

THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 65 SET IN 1917 AND FALLS ONE DEGREE SHORT OF TYING THE ALL-TIME JANUARY MAX TEMPERATURE OF 75 SET ON JANUARY 24 1950.

Very nice, that cluster near Ottawa must be very close. 50 dBZ to about 23k on a few of them.

 

Looking at the 00z DVN sounding, freezing levels were around 9500 ft. However, it was pretty unsaturated at that level and there was probably some wet bulb cooling. But a 9500 ft freezing level corresponds pretty closely with 23 kft for a 50 dBZ height on the warning threshold.

 

That cluster by Ottawa does look to be very close.
