Thought the roof was going to rip off my shed...  wind howling right now.

Just moved my car out of the way of a tree, gotta feeling at least some branches are gonna come down.

I can see the low, dark cloud shield associated with the front approaching from the north. Looks like it's already through Middleton, so it'll be here momentarily.

Hoosier asked last night about the date of the -32C 850 temp over the LOT CWA. It was actually on 1/18/1994 when ORD had a split of -11/-21. 1/20/85 was a close second, with -31C at 850mb.

If I may ask, is there an old RAOB site that you're looking it to get those 850 mb temps or just eyeballing the maps?

This record-breaking streak at MSP may finally come to an end...

Streak With Highs of 0°F or Above Has Reached 4 Years at MSP

Friday, January 18, 2013 marked the 1,464th consecutive day, (just over 4 years), with high temperatures of 0°F or greater at Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport.  The last time the high temperature at the Minneapolis airport was below zero was on January 15, 2009: when the thermometer climbed to only -6°F.  This streak may finally come to an end on Monday, as temperatures struggle to make it into the low single digits below zero, behind an Arctic Cold front poised to blast through the area later today. In addition, the number of days with low temperatures below zero this winter will at least double, if not triple in the week ahead.

The table below is a rundown of the top 10 streaks with high temperatures remaining at or above 0°F at MSP.

Rank Number of days with highs >=0°F Ending Date Period of record: 1872-10-01 to 2013-01-16

Wouldn't even thought it's been that long!

Quite a jump between 4 and 5th place.

Temperature is on it's way down now.
