Oddly, IND only picked up 0.1" after 12 PM. Maybe the visibility restriction was more because of blowing snow but I thought they were under a pretty good band for a while...

I'm not convinced they didn't overmeasure during a certain one hour period during the morning when it was reported they picked up 3"...and then spent the next couple of hours understating in order that the correct total lined up by mid-afternoon. You are correct, it was still snowing pretty well on a couple of occasions after noontime.

Even though the low visibility snow has been gone for hours here, I notice from looking at the once-shoveled drive that the persistent light snow is accumulating very well, a rime-like powder. At 4:20pm I cleared a spot and snowboard and we had 4.2", since then it has gotten much easier to measure as the wind has calmed down considerably. Peaked at 9:30pm, and we had 1.7" additional for a total of 5.9" and still snowing, so indeed this has turned into a 6"+ storm. And the perfect kind...nice powder, not wet, not fluffy. This is a sledders/cross country skiers dream.

since i moved to vermont in january, there has not been a snowfall greater than a few inches here where i live.

orographics make it difficult to predict snow, its an entirely different beast forecasting wise.

i have a lot to learn here when it comes to forecasting. its amazing the difference only a few miles makes. for example, i live along the shore of lake champlain and it can be raining here and go one exit dow the interstate and up about 500 ft and its SN+ and go down the hill its rain again.

EDIT congrats on the snow i got home late from work and went back to about 2am last nite and read through the threads..... :) happy to see our friends in indiana and michigan do well.

Sounds fun. I guess you're close to enough to seeing snow...if conditions warrant. Good luck with this one. :)

EDIT: And thanks. Nice to see snow on the ground again.

Looks like our old stomping grounds (Ottawa) will get hit again tomorrow. Quite the december up there!

I can see it's ripping pretty good at your place - Harrisale!

35dbz returns moving north of Buffalo.

Better than expected for sure. Snowfall rates and flake size have picked up within the last hour, visibility down as well. :D

Moderate snow and blowing snow. Would be nice to get some +SN though.

Similar here, possible +SN for a brief few minutes.... eh maybe not. Close though

Radar trends seem to be favouring the southern and western parts of the GTA attm. Hopefully something can rotate up your way at some point, although you have a little dry pocket on the way in the next half hour.

I saw that. Hopefully it won't last long and some moderate returns move across the lake from NYS.
