RUNNAWAYICEBERG
was really ripping here for a good half hour...lighter now but more echoes to the S moving N.
nzucker
Low getting cranking off the Delmarva. Not sure it's of much help though, will shift the flow aloft from south to southeast. I wonder if 850s keep warming or if that coastal cuts off the warming of mid-level temps some. 0C contour at 850mb is now just north of Tom's River, NJ and the colder 850s have retreated the area, only -1C across Westchester...BL warming could be an issue still as the temperature is slowly going up here with east winds. Downtown Dobbs Ferry is still below freezing at 31.7/30 so I have a bit longer in the hills, but it's getting marginal.
mulen
Pretty cool i have to share snowing at the top of the bridge and watching in awe how elevation effects this system and mixed to rain in whitestone in 30 seconds.

Guest Pamela
Down to 33.8 now with a snow/sleet mix. There is a light coating on the non-paved surfaces. It looks like the precip is about to shut off for a short period. I imagine that would be the end of the temp decline and maybe also the frozen. We'll see. Mostly snow here since about 5:00 PM with some rain mixed in when it is light...temp around 34.5 F...not able to accumulate...but I did not expect to see as much as I did... Edit: Probably have to call it mixed precip now as I can here the distinctive pinging of some sleet pellets as of a little past 6 o'clock.
IsentropicLift
This might be over and done with shortly after midnight.. Back edge is already approaching Ocean City, MD. sn0w
Temp still dropping here...down to around 27 in Mahopac (Putnam County) with moderate snow...I've only looked out the window but I'd estimate 1-2" so far.
TWCCraig
This might be over and done with shortly after midnight.. Back edge is already approaching Ocean City, MD. The banding is really becoming evident on radar. http://radar.weather...id=dox&loop=yes Current radar is lining up almost perfect with 18z NAM radar and precip on 18z NAM doesn't lighten up until about 3am. NYCSuburbs
Still 80/20 sleet/snow mix here, no rain yet. There's still an inch on the ground as with before the changeover but total is likely higher than 1" due to the sleet.

famartin
Officially all rain here now in Astoria. .50" of accumulation. For a second I thought you were talking liquid equivalent. You don't need the extra 0 since snow is only measured to the nearest tenth of an inch...
jm1220
Getting windy here, gusts to 45mph I'd estimate, from the east. No snow here at all today except for a little bit of slop at the beginning.

nzucker
Pounding snow again in Dobbs Ferry...was mostly sleet, but the heavy band has mixed out the warmth. +SN 31.9/30 Winds:NNE
sferic
Heavy snow, 2 inches down already here in Liberty at 23 degrees, visibility 1/4 mile. Here's hoping elevation saves us and ZR and sleet dont mix in and it stays all snow till 6AM and we get a solid 12 inches.

RUNNAWAYICEBERG
always amazed how heavy it can snow every time it comes down like this....nothing will beat the heavy snows under the megaband on the boxing day blizzard but this is pretty darn close! nzucker
There is a mega-band south of Long Island with very heavy precipitation rates. 0C 850 isotherm is still south of Perth Amboy. Can this heavy banding change most of us back to all snow for one last time?

Can this heavy banding change most of us back to all snow for one last time? Anxiously awaiting that band up here as well. The temps are cold enough and it's sleeting --- but that might bring us back to the goods!
IsentropicLift
Not a big fan of TWC by Any means, however there future cast radar shows all areas north and west of I-287 staying mostly snow till the early morning hours before changing over to freezing rain/sleet. Keeps precip around over NJ till early afternoon tomorrow.
