H2O
Glad for you all in DC to get a little something. Ground is white up here, about half an inch. I'm just glad to be on the scoreboard. No shutout. And thanks for not wishing cancer on me.

It was a close call, but I figured..."hey, he's probably got a lot on his plate right now, without dealing with cancer"...

Ian
The last 24 months has made me begin to question my viability as a snow weenie this is really one of the stupidest hobbies possible if you're not in the field. just a time suck. i mean you might know more about weather than your avg schmo but what does that really mean in the long run? It's like some sort of hard wiring thing. I guess we were all born like this. Apparently there's a lot who are afflicted. The ironic thing is when I lived in the rockies it was never enough either. 400-500" in the biggest years wasn't enough. Still got pissed when a storm busted. Still bummed out when the season ended. Granted I was a ski bum at the time but still. It's kinda an f'd up personality trait that makes little sense to those not afflicted. I know living back here means few and far between in comparison but the interest in it can't be redirected for some weird reason. I'm sure there's some sort of explanation in a psych book somewhere and probably a pill to cure it too. Honestly, it's a big bag of wtf is wrong with us. Like any other mental illness, without medication it seems to be getting worse with age. Everyone always ask me when am I going to get over this. aldie 22
I'm ok tracking each event by itself during the winter months but as each crappy year passes I become much less enthused about winter in general. It really is just a blah feeling anymore as we head into winter each year knowing how poor it will be. I love snow...I love cold air...I will be happy when those things happen but I really just don't anticipate them anymore....I had my meltdown the other day and that really opened my eyes to how silly this obsession is especially at our location. Here's to our next snow event....whenever that is. Of course I feel like a dolt writing this less than 3 years after the greatest winter of my lifetime...eh...I'm deranged

Subtropics
I just felt a sub zero wind chill. I would estimate it to have been about -5F. Courtesy of a rouge gust. It did NOT feel pleasant. I need to move south.

wxmeddler
Nice try. I didn't make it. With all thread maker bashing lately, our problem won't be from lack of storms that produce snow but the lack of thread makers

WVclimo
Just came in from a walk. Beautiful winter night. 16 degrees without any wind, and the moonlight shining off the powder. EastCoast NPZ
clear skies and temps down to 12F. DP is 3F. Could really be a cold one if we can keep the skies clean for a few more hours.
astarck
Has anyone else noticed any other personal weather station's temperatures dropping fast? My parent's are in Fredericksburg and their station is down to 7.7. Granted, their weather station is located in a rural natural depression and is ideal for this area for radiational cooling. Although their temps are in line with most other stations in the area most nights. Maybe a degree or two colder when it's clear.
