ravensrule
I just realized that I know exactly how Manti Te'o feels right now. I just discovered that my snow girlfriend was an "elaborate hoax" and i am a victim of a "sick joke" Lol, btw there is no way in hell he was not involved in this in some way. He lied many times about meeting "her" in person. This is the craziest sports story in many years, at least it helps Lance Armstrong by taking his story off of every single news station. WinterWxLuvr
I think many of us should have voted 11. All of a sudden this snow obsession seems unhealthy.

gymengineer
For whatever reason, I really like reading about/watching video clips from snowstorms in places that don't get a lot. Richmond doesn't really count, because they hit 10" a year for their average... but for the deep south or Pacific coast, it's pretty cool. These clips from the Blizzard of '93, with a much younger looking James Spann, are amazing:
Ian
Yeah, it's "neat" from an unusual point of view for some places.. but snow is an IMBY subject for the large majority of people who track it. I'm not going to pretend to be excited just to seem nice.
gymengineer
BTW, from the "paying back" way of thinking, we need this season and the next one to average 3.5" and we'll be done paying off 09/10 (to keep our 15" seasonal average). On to 2014-2015

gymengineer
just pointing out what happened? Oh, my bad. I just didn't read carefully. I had mentioned in a reply to you somewhere about there never being two less than 5" seasons in a row and thought you were joking about that. But, yes, who wouldn't love 1932-1937? Got three of DC all-time greats in there too-- 12/1932, 1/1935 (50F with rain transitioning to snow behind a cold front, leaving almost a foot of snow), 2/1936. Fozz
I'll be honest here..... it's been literally two years since I've seen a 2"+ event IMBY (I was out of town on late dec), and at this point I haven't seen anything more than flurries this winter yet. That being said, while a 2-4" storm would be nice, I'm not gonna pretend that I'll be satisfied with that alone. I want a 6"+ storm this year, and no, I don't think I'm being unreasonable with expecting that given my climo. It's been way too long already. midatlanticweather
We just had a flurry storm for about 2 minutes in Sterling - OK it was no flizzard - but seriously, seeing anything helped a little.. mattie g
There's a real good shot he is not wrong. More than halfway through January and nothing promising on the horizon. We could get something in February, but it's hard to argue against our getting nothing worthwhile.

North Balti Zen
Nice post from gymengineer, maybe I can go back to lurking in the NE threads. I had been assuming they were cashing in while we were not. I ilke it they are generally getting hosed too. It's not been a great winter for the major cities northeast of us either-- Boston's "only" had 7" so they are running well behind where they should be. NYC's at 5" at Philadelphia's only at 1".
