Can confirm some breaks in the clouds and blue sky from my northward facing office in downtown Balt City.

As for the greater lolz of this system and this on-going eff you in terms of snow to our area....2/3 of NC and around 3/4 of Va is under a winter storm warning. Just amazing to look at the warning map for the region and see us once again shut out.

I laugh to keep from crying. Or I laugh while crying.

In other news....AO is looking to go positive, NAO looks to be ineffective, MJO is going to die in phase 7, pna is set to go negative, and storm track is looking to head back west down the road. It just doesn't get any better than that.

Within an inch of starting to root for what would be another near shutout. Historic to do that, back to back.

It's starting to look grim for the remainder of the month unless we get a surprise clipper this week or the modeled mean pattern is completely bonkers.

Your optimism seems to be waning.

No, I just find it humorous watching us find new and improved ways to escape winter weather.

Give me high pressure over NE, and storms in the Ohio Valley.  Those don't work well for some in our region, but they work just fine for the Shen Valley.  We either get Dec 26, or ice.  I'll take either over partly cloudy and temps at 40.  Nothing bugs me more than to be shutout on precip.

Totally agree. Missing out on precip is sad.

Maybe we will get up one day and we will get something on the horizon. Hopefully before mid Feb. cause by that time I will be rooting for an early Spring.

Looking at current surface obs and the forecasts by the RAP in the next 10-12 hours, I'd think there's at least a small chance of a pretty big snowfall bust.  Other thoughts?

Apologies to those who are supposed to get snow with this, but if I'm not going to get anything I'd feel a little better if this busted everywhere.

Immature, I know, but that's just kinda how I am.
