dendrite
 I really hope your area up through BOS gets nailed. I don't like throwing out the deserve card, but if there was any region that deserved a good snow event it'd be from you to Coastal.

Tropopause_Fold
the GFS is quite mild. more so than any run it has had. *at face value* this run is torched all the way to like 128.

ORH_wxman
the GFS is quite mild. more so than any run it has had. *at face value* this run is torched all the way to like 128. For BOS it has the freezing height around 960-975mb...which tells me that the GFS is just being the GFS when it comes to the sfc temps. The sounding is cold just off the deck, so I can't imagine the BL would be much of an issue...esp if the precip is coming down steadily.
Tropopause_Fold
I may have a few issues until winds go more north. on this particular run...it's pushing the 925 0C line way west. i don't like that. looking at the surface temps, i'd assume it's a pretty thick layer of like 0-2C type of stuff. maybe overcome but not ideal. N. OF PIKE
Wow if scooter has a torched boundary layer I think he will need some tlc. But phil doesn't the gfs have a bit of a warm bias wrt lowest 1k of atmosphere? Edit nmind will answered that. Now we just need the euro to trend a tad more amped and wsw will fly

mahk_webstah
Wow the trend continues....I thought it would even out at 12Z or maybe tick east a bit. I wonder what the models are seeing as the shortwaves are better sampled and of course will the trend continue? Ya know, we could call this the DT storm. But phil doesn't the gfs have a bit of a warm bias wrt lowest 1k of atmosphere? yeah it tends to be mild overall. it's also just one particular run. i'm not by any means saying its right - just commenting on the actual data. it's easy to look and think it's dumping 6" of snow someplace but it's not always so cut and dry. definitely further inland it's a good advisory event but closer to the shore it's pretty meh.
