Chicago WX
FWIW the 12z RAP gives you 0.30" of precip. Would make for a decent little system for you guys. That's actually north of LAF (the bullesye of 0.30").
SchaumburgStormer
That's actually north of LAF (the bullesye of 0.30"). Still south of mby/Chicago. Par for the course this December. Punt! In other news, everyone have a happy, safe, and fun NYE

Chicago WX
Yeah I don't want to come off as whiny with my last post. Just saying verbatim the 0.30" was just north of here. Trust me, I've been lucky this December...no reason to complain for me, all things considered. Just awful luck for those to the NW of here. Chicago WX
Ahh, for some reason I always envision LAF a little further northwest. Draw a west/east line from just south of the MO/IA border...then a north/south line where IN/MI meets at the Lake. There's pretty much where LAF is located. Up here, we've been putting a whole new meaning to "nickle-and-dime". A couple tenths here and there. Still managed to get 2" this winter thus far. Big money. Chicago WX
Wherever the KC Chiefs practice facility is located...it's ripping snow there right now. As seen on a live shot from the NFL Network.

Will actually be back today for some New Year's celebrations. Depending on how successful those celebrations are, I may at least believe that we are getting an epic snowstorm. cyclone77
Pretty large area of snow. A lot of it is on the light side, but there are some pockets of heavier snow. Heavy snow on the south side of KC. Kirksville MO, Macomb/Springfield IL all at 1/2 mile in moderate snow now...

It's a winter wonderland here, relatively speaking. 14z RAP has LAF on the edge, but shows my "screw zone" thoughts for south of here.

Looks like a nice east/west band will setup near or just north of LAF. If that stalls out long enough I could see it overachieving for somewhere in there. The RAP there would give us 0.01". I'll take it!

I kind of like Iroquois county in LOT's CWA...where there's just chance POPs right now. And good luck on that 0.01".
cyclone77
Looking good for St. Louis too. Heavy snow (1/4mi) being reported in Rolla now. Lees Summit on the southeast side of KC also with heavy snow. Quincy down to 1/2mi mod as well.
Chicago WX
Warming up quite well here, now up to 33º. I see a lot of temps to the west/southwest, where it' snowing, AOA freezing. Will be a bit of a negative for accumulating...if snow rates don't deliver.

blue60007
6-8" for PIA? And nice little speck of a sucker hole over LAF. Heck yeah. 13Z run shows a more "reasonable" 3-4" across much of that area. Also shifted a tad further south and eliminated the LAF hole... cyclone77
1/4 mile heavy snow in Quincy now. Some nice bands over towards Bloomington as well.
Chicago WX
Warming continues here, up to 34º at LAF. Ticking 36º on my thermometer. Radar does look nice back towards Bloomington. Hopefully that holds as it moves east...

Chicago WX
Looking at ILX's radar, the good bands are setting up from UIN to BMI up through Iroquois county. It'll be a close call for LAF. EDIT: virga cancel, we have flakes.

Chicago WX
I'd think that temps should settle back a couple degrees as rates increase. Yeah, dropped 1.7º here on my jankity thermometer. New ob at LAF down to 33º, with no snow. Interesting. Oops, never mind the last part. Still think the "best" snows will just miss us to the north, but we'll get our share. hoosierwx
I'd think that temps should settle back a couple degrees as rates increase. It was 36 here at onset and has dropped to 33. It's been snowing a couple of hours, maybe half an inch accumulation on elevated surfaces. Really nice to look at though.
