how?...I think all of VA was under a warning...maybe as far south as NC...it was an epic bust...models must have showed snow

this is the dec 30 200) event right? the models leading up to the storm has all the meaningful precip east of us. no way we should of been under a warning

I'm pretty sure you're wrong. It was the 0Z run of the ETA right before the onset that had everyone pulling the plug on the storm for those SW of Philadelphia.

Hot off the wires..

URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BALTIMORE-WASHINGTON

12:30 PM EST SAT DEC 30 2000

MOSTLY SUNNY WARNING FOR ENTIRE AREA

A Major Sun Event looks to impact the DC Metro area with Near Glare Conditions

Possible By Afternoon. Synopsis: A Coastal Storm, that will in no way give

the area even a flurry, will move up the coast and away from the area. This

will allow a flamming ball of gas type system to rise out of the east up and

over the area with peak conditions around noon to 3pm. This flamming mass,

located some 93 million miles off the planet, will actually shoot down rays of

light and some warmth upon the area. Travel may be difficult, especially when

heading into west after noon or so, as glare conditions may develop. All

preparations for this should be rushed to completion, such as minimum sun block

when outdoors, Rayban purchases. DO NOT LOOK DIRECTLY INTO THIS SYSTEM as

burning of the retinas will likely occur. This is a dangerous system. We

expect (not certain) that this system will be over at exactly 4:56pm today.

April 9, 1996 was light, non-accumulating snow or rain/snow locally during the day. In the suburbs, we managed a light grass accumulation. Some TV mets were skeptical of the NWS's 4-8" forecast because of surface temperatures. Bob Ryan went with 2-5" for the immediate metro and Doug Hill mentioned minimal road impacts except for maybe neighborhood streets.

That required the low to bomb not too much further SW than it did-- Atlantic City, NJ, got pounded.
