Stormhunter
Nothing here yet at the Mason Dixon Line 2 miles south of Ski Liberty PA. Very Cold at 27, I think many will stay freezing for a longer duration today. Moisture having a hard time getting above the MD line. The little snow cover we had kept temps down, along with the cloud cover occuring just after some partly cloudy skys just before sunset allowed for some extra cooling. These small things can help a CAD and I'm not sure if models can pick these things up. I would not be surprised to see a sinificant sleet storm for the extreme NW burbs. Ji
I would take a couple inches of sleet though...might stick around longer and survive the deluge this really sucks. It went to sleet way to soon..probalby cost us 3-4 inches of snow. Euro had 850 temps dropping a bit before rising and turning to rain

psuhoffman
Why were you assuming the warm layer was right at 850? We can't see euro thermal profile it's possible there is a warm layer above 850.
Ger
Ugh-- sleet now on Capitol Hill. I hate the "ping" it makes. It have way too many bad memories of incessant pinging I had to deal with during in mid-afternoon thru evening hours on January 3, 1996. Easily caused Upper Marlboro at least 6" of snow. aldie 22
i guess NAM was right:( nam was mostly rain....somewhere in the middle is right...two winter events in three days that both accumulated in December around Christmas...not too bad. you need to be more about the results and less about what could have been. I know that is hard for you but it sure helps me.

Stormpc
Sleet picking up in intensity again/a lot less liquid than before. Temp is 29.1. Surprised this morning when I went to be at around 12:30 am and it was still about 42 with dp at 33. Looked at obs further north and east and noticed the dp's were dropping through the 20's, wondering if the dry air would get here in time....it did. It's a win, in my book. Looking ahead to Saturday.
