hockeyinc
gfs is even stronger with the wave and further south...now warning snows possible with .25-.5 qpf If I may make a quick comment (and forgive me if it shouldn't be here). I am 48 years old and live at NJ Shore. I have NEVER seen it snow on Christmas Eve into Christmas Day. Have always wanted to see that. There was a storm in 1966, but was too young to remember. My parents took pictures, which I still have.
famartin
Christmas surprise in the sense that in my 38 years I honestly can't think of one year where we had accumulating snowfall overnight Xmas eve into Xmas morning. 2002. Snowed in the overnight, changed to driving rain, then back to snow in the afternoon.
famartin
Yeah, even in lower bucks when it changed over we had accumulations, but there was only rain when we all woke up in the morning. Back then I worked at the local Blockbuster Video and our a$$ of a boss thought it would be just GREAT to do the monthly store inventory that night. So I was at work until about 3AM. ago4snow
If I may make a quick comment (and forgive me if it shouldn't be here). I am 48 years old and live at NJ Shore. I have NEVER seen it snow on Christmas Eve into Christmas Day. Have always wanted to see that. There was a storm in 1966, but was too young to remember. My parents took pictures, which I still have. I can remember that storm like it was yesterday. There were several lightning strikes during the storm, which was probably the first time I experienced lightning during a snow storm. We had high winds and visibility at or below a 1/4 mile for many hours. I'm not sure, but I think a deep low pressure area tracked across southern Virginia in more of a west to east fashion, as opposed to right up the coast. tombo82685
so far the christmas wave on the euro is much weaker than the 12z....also the hgt lines are not as amplified ahead of it. So, me thinks it will be further south/east

thedude11
I must say I am somewhat surprised that there isn't any mention of the possibility of precip on Christmas - at least on nbc10 and 6abc from what I watched this morning.. Seems pretty likely that there will be some type of precip on Xmas in the Delaware Valley. Maybe they are just being cautious...
