TimChgo9
There was actually snow on the ground this morning. Still busted though. About 1/2" of snow.. I was calling for 1" . Power stayed on, even though it was pretty windy. Not the very high winds like we were initially expecting. We did get a gust of 51mph through here though. michsnowfreak
18 inches here in Gaylord.... Loving it. Jon With all the places that busted low with this event, you are ground zero for a place busting high. SO jealous!
michsnowfreak
Had a storm total precip of 0.79" and 1.2" snow imby (0.71" was rain, 0.08" snow). Looks like winter outside. White on the ground, steel gray sky, and a biting wind. Now...fingers crossed for later this week!
Hoosier
It turned out to be better than a T. Looks like somewhere around an inch, definitely shy of it though. Haven't gone out to do a measurement...kinda wicked out there still. South and west of here look they made out pretty nicely though. I saw IND had 0.9" as of midnight, and it's been snowing since then. Peak gust of 50 mph at LAF. All in all, still a win. Looks, sounds, and feels like winter this morning. WLFI had 1" fwiw
Hoosier
Haha! Too close to the low didn't help. I really think it came down to the fact the ground was so wet from all that rain, it just had a hard time sticking. UHI doesn't help either. I buy the wet ground to an extent but we saw it get overcome in other places. I think the wet ground, lack of intense snow rates and temps hanging above freezing all conspired to do in Chicago. buckeye
finally getting the real snow with this system out here. Looks like a solid 1.5-2" should be realized.
Natester
I took some pictures this morning on the way to work of the snow. I noted that the great majority of the pine trees were sagging due to the weight of the snow. Here's a picture of one of them.
dmc76
Nasty little storm. Roads are a disaster. Approaching 2". Not bad Virtually impossible to measure... Considerable blowing and drifting snow. Going with 1.75" of snow. Winter is here!
Indystorm
I think I had more snow with the LES incident of Dec. 12 here in Michiana than I did with this system. Definitely underperformed here. Much more grass showing than snow today.
on_wx
About 5-7pm last night a heavy burst of snow hit before changing over to all rain. Anywhere from 1/4"-1" fell.

buckeye
we're the johnny-come-lately of the storm. It took awhile but we have a solid 2 and could hit 3 looking at intensity and radar.
Trent
We've had sustained winds 35 mph from the NW gusting to the mid 40s. Took this picture earlier when the waves hit the lighthouse:

BowMeHunter
1-3" of cement slop and penny fluff LES is useless to me. It sucks! flat out! Nice cold snap after this storm... Cant wait for my mid 30s for 3 days. Hmmm wonder if Christmas day will be sunny with a high of 39-43? December to forget. **** Winter.... For obvious reasons. Good start to winter and good stat padder to give the yearly totals a jump start. lol
Jonger
You want to live near a populated area, most likely its crap for snow... Not many nice snowy areas with people and work... I'm in Gaylord right now and there is 20 inches. Jon

I'm in Gaylord right now and there is 20 inches. Jon SE wisconsin is loaded with great snowmobile trails if that's your thing. ...now if only we got to use them for more than a week or two a season. Even Gaylord is prone to total meltdowns, thankfully they can do well with cutters and have the LES crutch to get things back in order fast. SpartyOn
lol Its amazing what a little powder can do for the spirit or outlook on life. Notice though.....still only called it "stat padding" and why are you even reading the complaint thread? Its awful in there.

Chinook
CNN.com I guess the storm is "whacking" the Midwest. http://www.cnn.com/2012/12/21/us/midwest-blizzard/index.html?hpt=hp_bn1 Blizzard whacking the Midwest expected to lose strength The storm was the first blizzard of the season and it certainly made travel from the Plains into the Midwest. michsnowfreak
winter... oh yea Very nice to see a blanket of snow, although here you can see grass tips and the snow barely stuck to the pavement at all. Did you shovel? With the 1.1" at DTW, the first 1"+ snowfall comes about 3 weeks later than normal, but nearly 5 weeks earlier than the record latest. IWXwx
I'm going to say that I'm not sad I had to leave my FD/EMS that covered the interstate when we moved, tonight. But I'm sure once the flakes start flying and hear them start getting the calls tonight, I'll miss it. I 69 was a zoo today, especially in southern Huntington County. Just over an inch of snow and some freezing drizzle this afternoon is all it took.
