As an avid observer I understand the stresz of wanting to get the perfect measurment, and sometimes the wind does NOT play nice.

Andy I did the exact same thing on feb 11. We had 3.9" of easy to measure snow at midnight, then overnight was a windswept mess. Snow board drifted over and all so I used what was in my rain gague and looked at obs to est an inch.

I've been following the surrounding areas and most reports are in the 16-20" range so I think i'm good. I literally have bare grass over 50% of my yard and then 3ft+ drifts over the rest! It's awesome. :)

Been snowing steadily since it started about 2:30 or so. I will try to wait another hour or two to measure, I would guess 2-3 inches.

Congrats, btw. I figured this would be a Madison to Green Bay storm, and it didn't disappoint. Wisconsin always seems to be prone to these heavy snows/blizzards. Seems almost every big storm in the Midwest delivers for someone in the state.

It's been interesting following the CIPS analog site over the past few days and seeing the consistent streaks of higher amounts of snow from Madison to the west. Makes me wish we had 500 years of data for CIPS to go off of. My guess is that this pattern would continue - the low tracks, for these types of systems, seem to always track within 50 miles one way or another....

So glad to be out of Sheboygan county and away from the damn lake. Lake doesn't produce on this side, outside of a few rare NE fetch events. So long SheVegas!

Must be nice to always have cold air banked up.

its what the ottawa valley does best!

Hey OL! Nice to hear from you again.

Hey!!

yeah i feel like there has not been much to talk about for the past year or so winter wise. this is the first storm in eastern ontario and SW quebec of note in ages. im pretty busy with work unfortunately....thats the problem with the real world lol.

you still in school?

Good to hear from you again OL. I sure wish I was in Ottawa for this storm. If I'm lucky, I might see a couple of inches (5cm) Friday night into Saturday in northeast Toronto as this part of the region can get lake effect if the winds are strong enough.

Hey OB!!

well i am in Northern vermont. just some ice pellets here now, and it will quickly change to rain and rain alll day tomorrow.

so yeah that sucks....wish i was in ottawa too. if i had time off, i would have driven back for this one. should be a great storm there and long lasting... my parents will keep me posted.

looks like the snow has begun in ottawa based on traffic cams.

time for you to move back to ottawa! lol....

Major ripping here right now, not a ton of snow but the winds are rocking! Hard to tell how hard its snowing when its blowing sideways. We might have an inch here and the radar looks good for light snow to continue. Models seem to show the winds relaxing a bit but have a second wind max around 14z. So the winds may actually get stronger in the morning.
