Chicago Storm
First time I've actually watched this happen... Still 39/37 at the surface, but if you look up in the sky you can actually see the heavy snow aloft. Every time there's a decent wind gust some flakes are carried down to the surface before they're able to melt. Interesting to watch the process, as you can see the snow making it farther down as time goes on. Fully turned over to snow at about 4:30. Not surprising, but the snow is having a hard time accumulating, with only a dusting on the grass thus far. Looks like final accum will end up less than an inch. hawkeye_wx
All the spotter reports from the Cedar Rapids area are 6+ inches, but an average of 25+ measurements in my fence-enclosed backyard(subtracting a half inch to account for the grass) only gets me 4.5 inches. The wind was very strong this afternoon. I've never had as much trouble remaining on my feet while clearing the driveway as I did a couple hours ago.
