A-L-E-K
Excellent convection firing in north central illinois feeding into the Madison snows...if they can hang on with all snow, we'll see some huge totals.
Geos
Freezing line approaching Ft. Atkinson, WI now. Bascially just west of the Kettle Moraine. Actually they have quite a bit of snow there already.

I think we'll be ok here west of Madison. Temps holding steady right around 31F - actually falling very slightly through the morning. Have 3.6" on the ground since 7:30am with SN+ at the moment. Liking our chances to hit 6-8" total for today.
Hoosier
Peoria and Lacon down to 29.10" so the surface low is somewhere in that area.
Hoosier
RAP has 55 kt winds at 950 mb at SPI later. Can't remember the last time I saw that on a sounding in this part of the country.

Depending on the exact evolution of the defo band, you could do better than that. the RAP continues to advertise another 8-10 hours of mod/heavy snow. kab2791
I'm back in Warren, but I see Central Michigan is experiencing a much slower transition to rain than expected. Still snowing in Mt. Pleasant, where 2" was reported earlier this morning. Harrison continues to report snow, where 5.5" was reported earlier.

Trying not to be too optimistic. At 11.4" total so far. Nice that the winds haven't picked up too bad yet as it's been fairly easy to measure. Nelson
Anyone east of Madison that can verify conditions near Jefferson? Looks like very heavy returns in that area - has to be thunder/lightning with that. Question is whether there is snow falling.

Nelson
Dang...20" is within reach IMO Never measured over 16" in my life in Wisconsin so that would be sweet. Worst part is that we got the initial 8" on 1.26" of liquid, lol

Looks like very heavy returns in that area - has to be thunder/lightning with that. Question is whether there is snow falling. Not a dual-pol expert, but it sure looks like Jefferson might still be wet while Lake Mills is snow. It is that borderline. In-laws are in Monroe, and it looks like they've barely been on the snow side for the past few hours (AWOS vis confirms).
