Impressive wind event in progress for BTV's area...lots of reports of winds up to 70-80mph with trees snapped, shingles and siding off homes. Downslope winds never fail to be impressive in the VT side of the Champlain Valley/Burlington suburbs/western slopes...

OTHERWISE...STRONG AND DAMAGING WINDS CONT TO BE THE BIG STORY

ACRS MOST OF OUR CWA WITH MANY REPORTS OF POWER OUTAGES AND TREES

DOWN. JUST GOT A REPORT FROM NASHVILLE OF 73 MPH AT 1203

PM...WHICH IS A NEW RECORD FOR THIS SITE. WE GUSTED TO 51 MPH HERE

AT THE AIRPORT AT 1114 PM. STILL EXPECTING GUSTY WINDS ALONG THE

WESTERN SLOPES TO CONT THRU 2 PM...THEN SLOWLY DECREASE TWD

SUNSET. WIND HIGHLIGHTS REMAIN IN PLACE.

ANOTHER UPDATE TO EXPAND WIND ADVISORY INTO EASTERN CHAMPLAIN

VALLEY UNTIL 00Z THIS EVENING. GETTING PLENTY OF REPORTS OF POWER

OUTAGES AND WIND GUSTS BTWN 60 AND 70 MPH ALONG THE WESTERN

SLOPES...AND THINKING A FEW TOWNS FURTHER DOWNWIND OF THE GREEN

MTNS WL BE IMPACTED WITH GUSTS BTWN 45 AND 55 MPH THIS

MORNING/AFTN. THESE AREAS WOULD INCLUDE

MIDDLEBURY...WILLISTON...ESSEX...AND SHELDON. WINDS WL DECREASE AS

YOU MOVE FURTHER AWAY FROM THE MTNS. STILL ANTICIPATING GUSTY

WINDS ACRS THE EXPOSED HIGHER TRRN OF CENTRAL/EASTERN VT...WHERE

WIND ADVISORY CONTS...AND OVER THE NORTHERN DACKS.

Rain now beginning to mix with mangled flakes here on the backside of the storm. 37° F and dropping fast. The west slope upslope machine is now starting to fire up.

Areas that were getting shadowed earlier are now seeing enhancement. Interesting stuff.

Good luck, Mitch--hope you can pile on a few.

37.9/34

Power back on. Trees and power lines down across roads in quite a few places. 62 mph gust here at home in Bath when the squall line came through. Shortly after, winds dropped off substantially to gusts around 15 to 20 mph. Now just a gentle breeze. Currently 43.8°F. Snowfall this morning was 1/2 inch and rainfall today 0.89 inch.
