famartin
Gusted to 25 mph here so far, which is no small feat considering the wind is mainly coming out of the woods directly to the east. Wilmington gusted to 60! That's a fair amount more than I expected for them...

But that looks suspect with only sustained wind at 11mph. Yeah I don't believe that. In fact I found that station on Google and there's no way its gusting to 58 mph with an anemometer only 10-15 feet off the ground and all those trees around it. My guess is he input a correction factor to the wind speed, not realizing that low anemometer height and blockage were the real reasons his readings are low. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=40.87755,-74.00438&ll=40.877577,-74.004153&spn=0.004283,0.009645&sll=40.877581,-74.004349&layer=c&cbp=13,305.15,,2,-2.78&cbll=40.877464,-74.00422&t=k&z=17&panoid=2TY3hSaPQA4j9YfITh2Qbg

Dsnowx53
I don't really have anything special to report other than it's certainly quite loud and gusty outside at this time. The wind is literally howling and whistling. I was on the Verrazano bridge at like 1:30 AM and the winds were nuts on the bridge; I had to hold onto the steering wheel for dear life.
