Robins Reef, in NY Harbor reported a gust to 56mph in the past hour.

There's also a 58mph gust report in Teaneck NJ. But that looks suspect with only sustained wind at 11mph.

Now a S27 G56mph. Elevation is 36ft.

Yeah I don't believe that. In fact I found that station on Google and there's no way its gusting to 58 mph with an anemometer only 10-15 feet off the ground and all those trees around it. My guess is he input a correction factor to the wind speed, not realizing that low anemometer height and blockage were the real reasons his readings are low.

I don't really have anything special to report other than it's certainly quite loud and gusty outside at this time. The wind is literally howling and whistling.

I was on the Verrazano bridge at like 1:30 AM and the winds were nuts on the bridge; I had to hold onto the steering wheel for dear life.

Usually, they would close the upper deck.
