Might have been in the overnight but you were warmer. Even here I was at 33.1 before 7:00a.m. yesterday--dropped after to 25* by noon and has been there ever since. Ginx snewx
Picture the little boys and girls awaking and rushing to see what Santa brought them. Little Jayhawk in his feety pajamas with the dumper strip in the back, Tiny CT Rain in his Batman underroos, Baby Kev in his plastic nighty diapers stamped with penguins, sissy Big G in her Dora one piece, and big brothers Orh and Scooter in their Red Sox robes. They scramble to see what Old Saint Nick has delivered when baby Kev looks out the window and sees the landscape covered in white. He shouts with glee, Santa has brought the greatest gift of all. They all stop unwrapping and rush to the window to see. Christmas snow is the most magical of them all.
moneypitmike
i could be wrong.. Acutally--just looking at things quickly, it might be that it's showing more qpf in CT but cutting back further north. Congrats LL and Blizz. Edit: I'm wrong. ORH_wxman
1-3" seems the best forecast right now. I'd probably go more 1-2" with a spot 3" amount as Euro was still pretty paltry. NAM did look better at 12z at least. SREFs were fairly juicey too with right near 0.25" for many spots...but some of them had major BL issues getting fairly far north. ORH_wxman
Is there a chance that this accumulates best in elevations?Or can everyone grab some? Most people should grab some snow....its sufficiently cold to the north of the sfc warm front...south coast areas are probably going to flip to rain though after starting as flakes

ORH_wxman
GFS has pretty strong PVA along and north of Rt 2 Christmas morning...that might spark a little bit of a weenie band which it hints at.

CoastalWx
GFS makes more sense with better snow near vortmax and associated mid level fronto and deformation. NAM looks funny as we said last night.

JustinWX
Maybe I'm speaking the obvious but it seems to me that the vort pieces along the east coast seem to be our saving grace on this 1-3" event...IIRC the earlier model runs that kept us dry offered no moisture contribution to the northern stream wave and had it entering confluence. These tiny vort pieces tap into some Atlantic moisture, it seems, and this gives our weakening dynamics some (although limited) moisture to work with. just my newbie 2 cents, anyway
