Not really...we had like 2 runs of the GFS show it at 108 hours and an 87 hour prog of the SREFs. Euro never showed it far enough south along with the other plethora of model runs in the past couple days.

You forget the super ensemble KURO. And I was mainly speaking of the 25th.

I'll bet heavily in favor now of a brown, seasonable Christmas. After that let's hope the pre NYE storm breaks our way.

I actually do not mind what the gfs portrays for xmas eve, fine line between too amped and sheared, the s/w has to be just right. I just wanted to see some flurries this weekend, I was trying to remember the last time a ULL worked underneath sne and provided snowglobe type stuff.

It's tough to feel that seasonal spirit on days like today. Took a long walk with the dog and boy and it felt no different than early November, except we had sun in November. Lol.

This board has been tough to take with peoples moodiness over lack of snow. It is what it is and there is still plenty of winter ahead.

That being said I'm sure some will start punting January in a week. May as well punt March while you're at it since that is no longer a snow month. There, that leaves February as your only winter month this year and it's the shortest month. bwah,ha,ha.

Not really a clipper or a cutter. The s/w appears to develop over the intermountain West and traverses the US in basically a west to east fashion. And the weak surface low never truly cuts... rather it kind of eases into the Lakes before sliding eastsoutheastward. Semantics.

The system on the 27th is a cutter. I thought the person who posted before me kept saying the Intermountain West system was a cutter when it isn't. You're right it's not a clipper either. It forms just south of that area and swoops very slightly in kind of like a clipper usually does. ORH Wx called it "clipper-esque", which I can come to terms with. All in good fun.

You can't punt January. Each system after this next one drops the gradient further south. It's just not the 1-2 process everyone wants it takes time. The 28th may go our way yet. It may not, but I think after that we get into a more favorable situation.

Time will tell, and yeah I saw the 18z GFS snow.

Agree. A lot of seasonal forecasters were saying it is going to be a colder/snowier winter for NE yet that hasn't happened yet. It just shows that nobody can really determine that until we actually get into season and see how everything is set up. It's only December 19th and people are already writing off January...way too early for that.

anyone who is looking to the 27th for a snowstorm has no one to blame but themselves when we get 2 inches of rain and 40 mph winds out of the south. That is what the vast majority of model have had for days now. I know somehow that storm missing will be spun into "what a bust" or "when did things change?" enough of the "woe is me" posts. Same people...everyday...same B.S. Pouting like the weather actually has it out for them. If this is what the weather does to you I would hate to see how you react to things that actually matter.

lolz

lolz (x3) if you actually think that people who get dissapointed about snow on a weather forum take it to some other level with real world situations.
