Solidus is searching for an experienced analyst to contribute to one or more programs to support FAA aviation weather research. The successful canidate will perform inventories and quality checks on large global aviation flight databases. The candidate will then generate estimates of emissions and noise produced by these flights for multi-year samples using FAA tools, verify their integrity, and perform analyses of the results. The candidate will also execute wind forecasting algorithms for selected cases based on meteorological observations and numerical model outputs, and perform evaluations and analyses of these results. Results analysis may then require algorithm modifications and upgrades to the relevant software, with supporting documentation.

Additional analysis may be required to perform case studies of high-delay Air Traffic Control situations due primarily to adverse wind conditions, using observational and modeled meteorological sources, as well as ATC operations data. Will generate supporting 3-dimensional wind analysis fields using the Terminal Winds algorithm, and will perform experimental alterations and upgrades to this algorithm as needed.

Candidate will also manage the research and execution of selected upgrades of the Integrated Terminal Weather System (ITWS) production software. Will devise and execute tests of the upgrades to verify the resulting algorithmic performance. Maintain a close working relation with FAA program management and with the FAA Program Support Facility (PSF).
