uncle W
So far this year has one good storm but it came in November...They all count but it came to early to stick around a while...Last year we had two storms...One in October and one in January...2001-02 had one storm and one dusting...1997-98 had a dusting and one late minute event...Here is a list of seasons with one storm near 8" or more and very little extra snowfalls...Hopefully this year doesn't any of these lists...... season.....snowfall.....big snow... 1877-78.......8.1".......8.0" est. 1/31-2/1... 1875-76.....18.3".....11.0" 2/3-4... 1912-13.....15.3".....11.4" 12/24... 1920-21.....18.6".....12.5" 2/20... 1928-29.....13.8".......9.2" 2/21... 1953-54.....15.8".......7.8" 1/11... 1974-75.....13.1".......7.8" 2/12... 1994-95.....11.8".....10.8" 2/4... some recent snowless winters... 1972-73.......2.8".......1.8" 1/27?... 1997-98.......5.5".......5.0" 3/22... 2001-02.......3.5".......3.0" 1/19... 2011-12.......7.4".......4.3" 1/21... 2012-13.......4.7".......4.7" 11/7... So far 2012-13 is running above average due to the November storm...The only other years with their largest snowfalls in November was 1989...1931...Both were duds... JBG
my wife lost here mother and father this year...2012 can't end soon enough... My mother had major health issues but at the moment is temporarily doing better. The firm I have been with for 26+ years is merging after one of the people made a bad investment and others made horrible decisions. Ditto. masomenos
05-06 has to take the cake on this one in areas just to the east of NYC. Outside of that week in early December and the February blitz, that winter was pretty putrid.
