That's impressive, but that pic is including the diameter of the branch it seems. Maybe there are reports close to that, but how do you have an inch of ice with less than 1" QPF. In fact about half inch QPF.

I scaled it, about 15/16 not including branch. To answer your question fill up a ice cube tray not to the top, then freeze the water, always end up with cubes to the top.

Very weird looking, another pic on their FB page from Gardner is smooth. I highly doubt though a trained ham spotter would fake it. Guess they had perfect conditions for accretion at 1100 feet.

I went thru Ice storm 98 here, And we had 1.5"-2.00" ice accretion and it was round looking on most branches and wires, That just looks weird to me

Well I don't know about fraud, but you don't have 1" of ice at 1100' and then .33" ice at 1000'. If there was 1" at 1100' I would expect way more reports > .5"-.75" ice all around ORH county.

Lol, just passing on what they report, pic is interesting though. I saw precip was. .53 there , ice is 8.13 % times volume of a liquid so max should be about 5/8 thick. Straight up fraud, send him to winter hell on the beach in SW CT with the blooming Geraniums.

Ha, it's fine...it's inherent in our blood to question reports that don't jive with others.
