NorthShoreWx
We've dropped 1.5 degrees here in the past hour. It won't come close to making any difference for us and it isn't the cold push that's chilling parts of MA, but I thought it interesting that its getting colder just about everywhere. Of course, we don't have to worry about latent heat release from freezing rain warming us up
N. OF PIKE
i think cf made its push around 1130 to midnite a bit s and se near 128. since then it hasnt moved really any more SE. i've been waiting for any drop here in wakefield center. no dice 34.5 meh. driving to n. conway tommorrow hopefully for a boatload of frz precip tues
CoastalWx
It's going to be a tough morning and probably evening commute for ORH and interior NE MA. Basically it's gonna have to be self destructive latent heat and gradual WAA aloft to help warm top down and alleviate the icing.
N. OF PIKE
CF runs from newbury,ma down to boxboro (just west of 95) down to N reading down into E woburn and lexington /n waltham weston natick . West of there GLuck driving. 34.5 disgusting degrees in wakefield ma. CF looks like it may have nudge West in last hour a smidge as reading meso net has gone from 33 to 35. blah

ORH_wxman
I hope towns really salt the roads, this could be a nightmare for traffic. Its really ugly out there. It has that ugly ice storm sound right now....the crackling sounds as the wind freshens out of the NE. My side road has been salted several times, but it is a skating rink anyway. Only so often it can be replenished...it gets washed away to some extent and that 27F temps to take its toll.
N. OF PIKE
You got it right except its nowhere near Boxboro and 495 north of the pike. Well locked in east of there. lol your correct. on weatherunderground i didn't squint enuf to read it. i KNOW my geography in ne mass. boxford by 95. and actually CF just easted east up in boxford and crossed 95 for the first time. also temps really falling now around arlington heights and auberndale inside 128 now getting to freezing. also the medway (rombalski) area just fell from 38 to 34 in about 5 minutes. i just need the damn reading meso net to crash to about 30. c'mon!!! ORH_wxman
Pretty vintage setup....Kevin is like 34-35F on this to be generous, lol. This is where the ORH hills blocking him to north hurts him even more than snowfall when talking winter wx overall.
N. OF PIKE
it is filthy will and the CF is easing East. newburyport dropped 5 f last hour down to boxford and the "tri city " meson net to there SE. Alot of populated areas are going below freezing now and the precip is moving in. one thing i wonder will (and most mets say no way) is looking at euro run on wunderground , it has 850's below 0c for good chunk of ne mass (it trended this way last nite for this time period) is there a warm layer at H8 , that keeps it from being snow as this batch moves in
ORH_wxman
I'm about 3/4ths of the way between that 28F at KORH and the 27F to the north of it toward the Holden site. Its 26.7F here.
N. OF PIKE
reading just dropped 2F in last (prob 10 mins) so i will go and check temp here soon. if peabody can drop below then i may be G2G here for a time.
ORH_wxman
Its 9F colder here than SLK...I'll just say it now because it very rare I get to say that ever about temps here and SLK at night time.
JJBASHB
It's going to suck trying to get home tomorrow morning. The parking lot is coated in a solid 1/4 inch of ice/snow. The flag is moving, despite being pretty well frozen, so there is still a drain from the northeast.
ORH_wxman
The steadier precip is about to move in...this will cause temps to rise I think as latent heat release from extra accretion picks up...but that will come at a price...things will become even icier. ORH_wxman
ORH is gusting to 18 knots out of the NE now...BED dropped to 27F last hour from 28. I think the dropping in temps has reached its peak though...should be a slow rise from now. But we'll see how well that dewpoint pool can sustain these temps or at least slow their rise. N. OF PIKE
west medford drop'd 5.4F in last 15 mins to 32.4 . w peabody just drop'd 3 in last 8 mins so hopefully i follow. if not i'm getting the rope

ORH_wxman
Virtually every N ORH county and me have been dropping now for the past 15 min...down a quick 0.4F...this must be that final push of the cold air/dewpoint pool before it tries to exhaust itself a bit here when the heavier previp moves in...but its important to keep watching the feed from SE NH and S ME to see if it keeps connecting....this is what allowed the big 2008 ice storm under marginal conditions...we have nowhere near the QPF to rival anything like that...but in terms of sustained icing its important to watch that stuff. If those winds up there go more ENE, then its over...self destructing icing occurs. But as long as those winds remain NE and esp NNE, then its game one for continued icing, even for the CP W of the CF.
ORH_wxman
Time sensitive...but this is cool to watch...scroll down just a bit for the temp graphs: http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=KMAJEFFE1 http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=KMARUTLA6 http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=KMAHUBBA2 http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=KMABERLI3 Every one taking a bit of a dive recently. ORH_wxman
Youll prob see a mini spike up in all those graphs too over the next hour or so when the steadier precip moves in...the latent heat release will get to work.
