Let's see what the 12Z GFS has. Besides, I don't expect a long term Arctic freeze. Probably just until February 3rd.

next week is still in fantasy land with these models - the flip flopping the last month has been unreal can't trust anything past 3 - 5 days - even 3 - 5 days is a problem with some of them

He is very much a part of the NYC Metro region. 

 

I'm really not supposed to be moderating a banter thread, and I hadn't really been on the forums much except for mobile a bit over the past couple of weeks, but just because this is "banter", doesn't mean you should post every single complaining, repetitive thought that comes to your head. I'm not going to heavily moderate this thread, but please take this into consideration. It has gotten to the point where I might actually delete posts in a banter thread...

Nyack, NY is very much in the NYC Metro area. It is only 19 miles north of the Manhattan boundary! That is very different from let's say YanksFan27 who posts in well interior NW NJ. Thus, the two different threads. 

 

Personal attacks will not be tolerated, even in the banter thread. 

Even though I live in the Mt. Holly CWA I post here because I'm only a 20 minute drive down Rt. 80 to the city. My other choices are Philly and or the NY/PA thread which just doesn't make any sense at all given my distance from those locations. At work here in Ramsey I'm a 10 minute drive wihout traffic from Nyack. My girlfriend lives in Bardonia. The NYC forum clearly states in it's header that it covers Northern NJ and SE NY. Not just the city and Long Island and the far NE corner of NJ. Those of us in the interior, if I may speak for them felt more a part of the sub-forum when it was combined with Philly. Now we are sort of in no mans land and that's why we have our little NW thread. The differences from one end of this forum to the next could be huge. 50's and rain on Long Island and 30 degrees and heavy snow in Orange County, NY. The same could be said about the Philly forum which stretches all the way from the Poconos to Delaware.

Nyack is in Rockland County, which is part of the NYC metro area.

You are definitely in a good location to be posting in this subforum. I just brought up your name as a way to justify the NW thread for yourself yet also say that BxEngine is not posting in the wrong thread. Sorry for the confusion.

Not a big deal. We really are in no mans land out here in terms of weather. Some winters like 09-10 it's easy because everyone got snow. This winter the interior has already had 3 or 4 decent storms and the city south and east not so much. It's making a lot of people angry for no reason.

I got an idea to stop this bickering - we should have 2 banter threads going this season since there is such a difference in the weather conditions in this broad based NYC Metro forum - its 2 different worlds this season in the area because of all the borderline events - and unfortunately most of the posters have not had much snow so far this season - and how are we supposed to know if someone got 4 inches if they are far north and west of the region ??? BUT they know that the majority of the metro had just rain and sleet this go around and a few of the other events so far. As far as your comment about my "negative thoughts" - negative because many of them have been downplaying the cold and snow ??- which has been correct so far for most in the " Metro "

How about you stop being so jealous and a :weenie: and take a chill pill. There is no reason for two banter threads. If the Poconos and Cape May can be in the same sub forum so can Middletown, NY and Bayshore Long Island.

I have to take care of a few things so I'll respond to the content of the actual post in a bit, but I did not use the word "negative" in my posts. I used "complaining" and "repetitive". You are allowed to have negative thoughts regarding cold and snow.

There is a reason others have pointed out how you come across as well. We dont need two banter threads....if you are asking those of us having a decent season to keep you in mind...then we should be afforded the same.

Pointing out that a pattern wont deliver isnt a problem. Plenty of people on this website manage to do it without pissing a soul off. The fact that some would rather troll, offer up no science besides "it snowed in october last year too", and point out that a 300 hr of one model run warmed, you arent being negative because thats what the pattern shows, you are being pessimistic for one of two reasons....either you are truly a troll, or you are being fake pessimistic so when this pattern does produce, you can be that much more excited about it. Plenty of people before you have done the same, and it will continue long after this discussion is over. If you cant handle a logical, fact based discussion without a condescending attitude, maybe its time for you to change your tune, not the rest of us.
