Dec 16-20 Snow/Mix events - Going over like a fart in church

We say this everytime, but it falls on deaf ears for some. We all love winter and sometimes we let our desires get in the way, but boy is 7 days an eternity in the weather world. It's important to remember that.

My sense is many expected something between what CT Blizz was talking about and what the consensus opinion was. Even that has gone down the drain in later runs. This is a disappointment, I expected we'd have some mood snow in most areas away from the islands and that seems unlikely now too.

Well there's nothing on the ground in town here on the other side of the Worcester Range ridgeline...think most are in the same boat. We haven't even really had any strong FROPAs or CAA for upslope snow except for that arctic front/upslope combo two weeks ago that laid down 4-7" in the valleys and up to a foot on the Spine.

We can't even nickel and dime in this pattern with no real energy moving overhead and no various advection processes with wind. Its just stale air and high pressure, followed by warm-ups and rain. Then repeat. I wish we could even get some solid CAA to get the upslope machine kicking... very similar to Lake Effect where those areas haven't seen anything either.

piss poor is understatement.

Who was saying ECM is 2nd wave happy - coastal? the wavelengths are awfully close - like major bust potential close - so maybe there's a curve ball ahead to a colder solution - seems to me is all happening quickly the warm trend - yeah maybe we were sold "wishcast' the cold solution in general scheme, I've been thinking this colder general solution that everyone has been pushing (myself included) is just getting PDO'd awaiting PNA to build, probably just down the road.

Yup...it's fun to look at and weenie fodder, but when we're in regular season or postseason mode in the subforum we don't obsess as much about threats past d4-5.

Looks like a lot of the snow I get will wash away. Let's get some legit cold in here.

We need one decent snowstorm for all of NE then some cold and everyone can relax and have fun the rest of winter.

lol at the 18z GFS... not one rainstorm but two to three depending on where you are over the next 7-10 days.

Something's gotta give at some point. It can't do this all winter, lol.

It's as though it were done on purpose just to disappoint folks - muah hahahaha.

It's interesting background story in all this for me how the Global Numerical models appear to have be hugely cold biased in their thermal fields in those earlier runs. I'm embarrassingly wrong -

But, it can do this all winter ... and it has before. ;)

That was in reference to the weenie wave the euro developed for this week. It was supposed to occur this past Tuesday night and many of us told Kevin it was suspect. I know Will even stated that these follow up waves with anafrontal precip can be hard to come by.

There are a lot of other very terrible things today besides unfavorably snowy model runs - my heart goes out - we should be so lucky

yeah ...it almost ...feels for lack of better word, like there is this hateful dark pal hanging over everything that in a mystical sense must have some proxy over events in reality.... ha

seriously, it does suck when you can't seem to turn any corner and find something positive to make you smile. Lord.

Let's just hope that whole Mayan thing passes, ahaha

We all got to make our own happiness like an ULL making its own cold.

I hope you can find some happiness, even on a dark day like this.

It's so bad not even the DGEX gives us hope.

I just think it ironic how this come unraveled over the last 3 days - we started out with 3 distinct stem wound bombs with cold air, and wind up with this ??

huh -

The wave that was going to do the 2nd bid is between the GOA and the west coast out over the open water - not sure if it gets sampled to night but definitely should tomorrow morning. not impossible that things whiplash back the other way - you get the feeling there's physics in playing directly preventing some times - hahahaha

Lol we had one euro and ens run with 3 distinct wound storms, this was never expected to really do much over sne. Ryan nailed it a week back saying it was a nh/vt/maine deal. The airmass was so marginal that we needed a couple things to break right for sne to "clean up". Now the modeld cold heading in now was one step (I think) but now the first two waves each took their own bad breaks, and I wouldn't be shockd to see the third become less and less impressive as we get closer. I just hope that the mtns snow at this point and also I don't think were done w suprises on models next 48-72 hrs, no way!
