eduggs
12z GFS looks similar to 6z. Temps warm very quickly by midday Sunday. The 12z GFS has big differences from 6z by 72hrs. Notably at h5 across the Lakes region and with the s/w near the Tex Panhandle. It's playing catchup at the surface. If this change is right, it's probably going to be cooler across the NE with the first wave in future runs.

moneypitmike
I'll say it again--and then shutup about it. I really wish they would merge these two pinned threads. The events are being driven by the combination/isolation of the three sw over the course of a couple days. It's hard to look at one without the other. Okay, I've said my piece. Hopefully, we'll get some snow from them. Meanwhile, nice late fall day. 36/24.
eduggs
The GGEM is still a comparatively snowy solution, but it's has roughly half the QPF as 0z last night and it's slightly warmer. And there's no followup coastal bomb.

I miss the giant orgy threads of years passed....I hate segregating everything....or at least just obs/met disco thread and banter thread....the seperate thread for each flake that falls is maddening, but I understand and respect the administration's position. Fixing problems where none existed. I get the banter v discussion threads that's cool. But this entire mess coming up is tied together as is the ending pattern afterwards. There's 3-4 threads covering the same topics.

I set the 2 threads up thinking these would be a bit more distinct. Obviously they are not hugely seperate. I asked that they merge the 2 What I was doing earlier this morning is having 2 tabs open... I will ask agian, Please merge the 2 threads
ORH_wxman
GGEM going from giving me 35" of snow to merely 14" isn't surprising. Last night's solution was preposterous. I do think in the end, much of the region will see some accumulation from this...how much ice/rain is involved is yet to be determined.

After these 3 events shake out, much of Sne away from immed coast will have a nice snow/ ice cover. It may not happen the way some folks envision/ want, but you can see it is going to be the final outcome giving us a nice white Holiday season

The first system directly influences what happens with the follow on systems so to break the two discussions out made no sense to me. ORH_wxman
If y'all want one superthread for multiple events...then you will have to deal with heavier moderation. Most of the one liners and non-analytical posts will be deleted...so I hope I don't see people complaining about that either. Seperating the two threads was one way of letting more posts in each thread, but that won't work now.

Seperating the two threads was one way of letting more posts in each thread, but that won't work now. And it was a nightmare for anyone on a mobile device, JMHO. The two threats are more than 3 days away. The second one could become a fish storm or anything in between. Once we get inside of a day or so I can see multiple threads. At this range, I didn't get it. Euro is decidedly further north with the sw US feature through

I think the obs/met disco and banter thread concept is a happy medium...jmo I realize the orgy thread is no longer practical due to the increased population of the board. CoastalWx
The GFS solution isn't trash worthy because of the pattern as a whole, but I almost don't mind seeing it showing a near miss right now.

True...hadn't even thought of that, but we are all cognizant of the GFS' biases at that range.

Seperating the two threads was one way of letting more posts in each thread, but that won't work now. yes and it was by far the better idea. if the models trend for another two days and there isn't a distinct difference between the two then one thread makes sense. this unified thread idea is going to be more confusing. "oh wait, did you mean snowier for the tue deal or sunday" " were you talking about the 1'st sw or the 3'rd". i violently disagree with MPM and Ray on this one. Two different threats two different threads. now every third post will forget to describe which threat they are talking about , and this will be a mess. dentrite had right idea. rant over

As long as when people make comments specific to an event they reference which specific time frame they're referring to this works, otherwise there can be some confusion. ORH_wxman
Oyyy...anyway, get back on topic. This doesn't need to turn into a superthread discussion. We tried to seperate events because its entirely possible the 2nd one doesn't happen and the first one does...or vice versa. They are not all one meshed event even if they do have some affect on eachother. That is meteorology. We also used the two thread idea as to try and control the banter...we tell people to keep banter to the banter thread, but since most people do not listen and we aren't always around to delete all those posts, the very least we can do is try and spread some of it out so that when someone clicks on the htread, they don't have to read through 46 posts of banter before stumbling upon a useful analytical post. But, that's the last I will say about this in here...if people have more comments about this, I'd suggest doing it in the banter thread.
CoastalWx
Euro is way less juicy as compared to the GFS. The surface depiciton isn't far off, however.
